Playing Dreamcast game: Ikaruga on RetroPie 3.8

RetroPie version: 3.8
Game: Ikaruga (cdi rom) - Japan region
Tested on both Raspberry Pi 2 and 3
Using wireless PS3 controllersThe game will start fine. However, when it gets to second part of Chapter 1, the player 1 will "freeze" while the game is still running. At some point of the game, it will resume working again.
The same game rom and bios are tested working on RetroPie v. 3.6.Anyone else is having the same issue?
