      Re: Retroplayer (Kodi 18)

Is there any chance to get Kodi 18 working on the Retropie?
A freind of me says I should just throw it away, install openELEC, install Kodi 18 and use the Retro Player instead.
But I don't wanna, I love the Retropie's Emulationstation (...and I don't wanna arrange everything new)!

I believe Retroplayer's strength will be in how simple it is to set up. The work they've put into incorporating the libretro cores into Kodi and its UI is very impressive. However, that level of simplicity comes at the cost of many features and configuration. Currently, Retroplayer is extremely limited as to how it can be configured outside of simply setting up a controller. As far as Kodi 18 itself goes, I'm sure it will be available in RetroPie very soon after it is finally released. As of now, it's still at version alpha 1.

Ah I see, thank you very much! I think I will get another Raspberry Pi and install Kodi 18 on it so I can befriend with it and check out the new features (like Netflix and Amazon Prime extensions). :)

You could also get another SD card and just switch them out. It's a much cheaper way to test.

I gonna think about it! Cheap solution vs. convenience. ;)
