Highscores of Rainbow Islands always change to xxx

System: Maximum default. Default RPi3+, default Retropie 4.4.1 without changes. Default power Supply. AdvanceMame 3.7.
Having an odd issue with Rainbow Islands.
When i enter my initials in the highscore-sequence it always changes to "XXX".
What i enter is "ALX".
Anyone ever had this issue before?
Never had that with MAME32FX on Windows.
It's the only game that does that, neither other games, nor Taito Games in piticular do that on my setup. -
@sirhenrythe5th I was actually playing it moments ago, what a coincidence. I didn't make it to a high score, though.
I'm wondering, have you tried it in other emulators and checked whether the behavior is the same? Does it change immediately when you finish typing, or only when you save and reload the ROM?
Have you tried another ROM version for the game?

@pjft yes, i played it on Windows MAME for years, never had this issue.
On the Raspberry i only use AdvanceMame and did not try other Mame versions.
This game is not so important that i would change the emulator itself 😊.It happens as soon as you confirm the third and last letter.
You enter the highscore on the Top of the screen and underneath you have got the actual top 5.
As soon as you confirm our entry, the three Letters are transfered to this list and become "XXX" 🤔I am using the Master/Parent rom "rainbow.zip".
Regarding your advise i just tested "rainbowe.zip", which is Rainbow Islands - Extra Version.
No Problems! ALX stays ALX.I know that there are a lot of entrys that are forbidden and get mainpulated that way in some arcade-machines like "SEX" "ASS" or "A.H"....but ALX???? 😊
