Pandora Theme

Hello,

I thought people might like an early Christmas present so I've uploaded a new theme to mega called Pandora which is based on the frontend found on the 'Pandora's Box 4 '.

I probably shouldn't be releasing more themes when I still have work to do on my others but this was a special case as I'm making a Retropie system for my Dad for Christmas and I made this theme especially for that.

The theme is not an exact copy of Pandora's box 4 but I think it at least feels very similar. Everything has been redrawn from scratch in full 1080p specifically for a widescreen display (the Pandoras' box menus are 800x600) however it should work in most resolutions with some minor alignment issues and stretching if in 4x3 modes.

The theme also feature 18 different colour options. Included in the folder are a set of colour folders which if placed alongside the main Pandora folder will allow you to select all the different colours from within ES.

Most systems should be supported but if there are any missing let me know and they can be added.

!!! WARNING !!!

The theme requires the latest dev version of EmulationStation in order to work. This can be installed from the experimental packages found in the retropie setup menu.

The font you use for the console names looks awesome! What's the name of that font?

Yeah it's a great font, it took a lot of hunting to find a suitable font for this. It's called 'Road Rage'.

Thanks. I'd love to create an es-theme repository but the theme uses features that are only available in the dev branch of ES which would cause confusion (it wouldn't work at all with older versions of ES). Once those feature are in the main branch of ES I'll add it to github so you can install it from the pi itself.

It's pretty easy to install the theme manually. For those who don't know you can create a theme folder on the samba share. Go to /configs/all/emulationstation/ and create a new folder and name it themes. You can then just drag and drop the theme folders into this newly created folder and they will be selectable in ES.

Ah right! you mentioned it needs ES-dev. Fair point. You are right that we can't add it right now to the theme selector interface. However, you could still in the meantime upload it to GitHub (and for now just not link it in the theme selector).

I mention this because some users (like me) like to use wget/curl/git to transfer/install things in RetroPie and the current Mega-based link is not very convenient for this purpose. If you upload it to GitHub, a simple git checkout makes it very straightforward for us :) It is your call in the end, of course, but just wanted to bring this use case to your attention.

Thanks. I'm going to hold off on adding the theme to github for the time being but once the main ES branch is updated I'll definately add it to github. I can't imagine it will be too long before that happens as these changes have been on the dev branch for quite a while now.

ruckage you made me finally switch off of your snes mini theme for another theme of yours. Love your themes man always main on my pi. I updated to dev branch right away and installed this as soon as I saw it. Using bluesteel variant and loving it. *edit love the samus which I call Ironman variant too.

Its great to hear you're using the theme, glad you like it. Don't know why Ironman didn't occur to me when I named that colour scheme as that would have been perfect as well. I do love Metroid though which probably explains why that was my first thought though Samus's suits is probably a more orangey red. My 3DS is actually the Samus edition as I thought it looked great.

Luckily my dad doesn't use the internet so there is zero chance of him finding out :) . He does like old games though, particularly 'shoot 'em ups' so I'm hoping he'll get some fun from it playing the games he used to enjoy along with discovering some of the many other games that will be totally new to him.

I need to make sure I get some Atari 800 games on it as the Atari XE was our first computer and 'Missile Command' and 'Attack of the Mutant Camels' were 2 of his favourites for that machine.

I can probably sort something out however it will only be be usable if you have Photoshop CC as the layer styles I'm using aren't compatible with older versions of PS.
