Retropie: refresh only "missing" images in Scraper and Skyscrapper
-
Hi
I used "sudo retropie_setup.sh" to download scrapper (Optional Packages --> Scrapper) and Skyscrapper (Experimental Packages--> SkyScrapper).
I tested both and found the same problem with both them: after performing a "full scraping" of all my roms with Skyscrapper, some of them (like 10%) have no image.
I want to set a different "game source" (now with Scraper) and maybe rename some roms or unpack them and launch the scrapping again, but only for the missing games/images, but it insists on dowloading covers for all the games again.
How do I launch both Skyscrapper or Scrapper so that it doesn't alter the games that already have an image?
In case I manage to do it: Is it possible to delete the data for a single game in case I want to refresh the image?
Thanks

This happens only if the
refresh
option is selected, or you're using the--refresh
option on the command line. You should be using it this option if you know the source has newer data than your cache or you're trying different other options (changing theregion
orlanguage
for the artwork/info). If you scrape the same ROM list from the same source again, Skyscraper will not re-download the same data again. -
@mitu Thanks for your reply.
I noticed that Scrapper allows to change (from within the retropie_setup.sh "dialog" UI) the source where it should check for the console or arcade games (ex: ArcadeItalia, OpenVGDB, etc).
Is there a similar option in Skyskraper? I have like 10% of missing images/game data and I'd like to leave my arcade machine "finished".
Is there a way to setup the metadata (screenshot and game title at least) for a specific game "manually" just in case none of the scrappers work?
And finally ... would the stock "retropie" scraper smash my current game database (90% fine, created with skyscrapper) if I start the stock scrapper from the RetroPie UI with the option "Only missing"?
Thanks again

Yes, it has a similar option int he GUI.

Get the artwork manually and copy it on the system, then edit the
gamelist.xml
file where Emulationstation gets its information. And finally ... would the stock "retropie" scraper smash my current game database (90% fine, created with skyscrapper) if I start the stock scrapper from the RetroPie UI with the option "Only missing"?
No, using the
only missing
option in the ES scraper would ignore any already scraped games. However, the internal ES scraper is not working at the moment - see the pinned topic in Help section. Btw, your topic would be more appropriate in that section as well. -

Yes, it has a similar option in the GUI.
Found it, thanks
