New here. Bought a unit from eBay. It just arrived yesterday. I come from a modded og Xbox system for all my Mame and old school gaming needs. I'm very impressed so far. My system cost a lil bit, but, it came preinstalled with over 20,000 games and multiple systems. I have retired my soft modded Xbox of 12 years

Yeaaah, you already broke the rules here bud. They don't like the Retropie systems you buy pre-loaded. You're going to earn a lot of people's ire here, especially if you ask for help on fixing any issues that come with it.

@SgtJimmyRustles it is what it is, I built up a mass amount of games downloading roms over the years to my Xbox. It was good to know it was a pre installed package, I registered for the love of the old school games I grew up with, not for help

You know, I looked around and I think I was wrong. I don't think you've technically broken a rule so far, but just saying that they really don't like those pre-made systems with roms on them.
I'm just giving you a heads up that they may not be as welcoming of you. But I'll say welcome at least.

@SgtJimmyRustles I work long hours and didn't have time to do a build, but I'm getting around to it at some point, the plan is to build a stand-up arcade unit this summer and use the retro Pie as the brains of the arcade unit I build this summer for my man cave, nice to meet u too buddy

@ClassicGMR I own a soft modded Xbox 128gb and had a chipped Xbox 5 years ago I modded and soldered myself. I could have built my own Retro Pie unit, but, took the easy route lol, but the plan is to build an arcade unit. Nice to meet you my dude! I may build my own Retro Pie unit down the line for all my rooms.

The RetroPie license does not allow selling it - especially with ROMs (which are most likely illegal). You've enriched a scammer - not the first occurrence on this forum, and certainly not the last. However, note that we don't support such systems.

@mitu I knew willingly roms are free,I've downloaded 35 gigs worth over the years. I love Retro Pie. I can't consider it to be a scammer, they supplied my needs. What feels like a scam, is the fact in the 80s and 90s our parents paid 50 dollars plus per game for games we can download for free now....that's not a scammer, that's a model citizen. They provided a service I needed lol

@mitu could be worse, games have been preserved because of forums like these, and the Mame forums over the years. These our child hood memories, can't put a price on it. People pay for what they want in life.

You were scammed even if you did it willingly. And it wasn't just you, every person who has contributed to the retropie project was also scammed and is just one more straw you added to the camel's back in associated the project with piracy by rewarding those who steal for their own personal gain.

@Scrooge80 you're insulting the people who develop the software you are using. Software they make for free, and then someone turns around and sells for a profit. Instead of being apologetic about it, you have an attitude. When you are in someone else's house it's usually polite to play by their rules.

@Scrooge80 I'm not sure you've signed up to this forum with the right intentions, or the right attitude. I mean in your first post you talk about buying an illegal premade image, and then you insult one of the forum admins! My advice (take it or leave it) if you want to be taken seriously on this forum then refrain from the above in future. By all means discuss the games you used to play, and provide help to others if you can, but leave the rest out of it. Else you'll be branded as someone who has joined just to cause trouble.
