Ok, so I guess Escape from the Planet of the Robot Monsters used an Atari "hall effect" joystick which is basically an expensive analog stick.

Nice find! Atari was always innovating the industry in those days. I'm sure I don't have my controls as optimized as they could be. I'll have to take a look at tightening things up for some higher scores.

@Parzival It's avsp . It tested OK on Pi2 by someone using AdvanceMAME (.106) but you can look it up on other game lists linked in the wiki.

Funny. But seriously, there is a PC game--has it been ported?

It hasn't been ported, but there are quite a few people running it through WINE, so that might be an option here with a fair bit of effort. There is also a 2600 'Polybius', but it's a different project and doesn't seem to be as engaging as the Windows release.

Edit: Remember, as with any game, if you start to go mad from playing 'Polybius' and your eyes begin the bleed, it might be time for a nice game of chess.

@backstander Both of these titles were made as PC games. @mediamogul Doesn't WINE require x86 architecture? If there's a way to emulate a windows environment, I think I'd rather have the WinIPAC utility than either of these!

For the most part yes, but there is work

on marrying it to Qemu-i386. It might not ever be anything to fully depend on, as WINE itself can be pretty finicky on a good day, but minor applications and utilities should function just fine. Also, I might be underestimating 'Polybius', but it doesn't look like it would require much more horsepower than what could be achieved with this approach. The Pi itself might need a few speed bumps though.
