Anyone have a scheme for keeping track of, and specifically, backing up changes made to their system? Both inside and outside of RPie/RArch?

At the moment I'm keeping a text list of files that i have added or explicitly modified along with a "find" command to list all save/hi-score files. With the idea of feeding these lists into a tar command for archival/back-up.

The idea being that I could perform a clean re-install then redeploy my changes either en-masse or one by one using these files.

I realize I could just archive the entire image and use that to restore but I'm thinking I might hit a point I want to start clean and only take some of the changes but not all of them.

I know my way around the command line enough to be dangerous but i've only dabbled in Linux on occasion here or there rather than a long term care/commitment to a nix environment.

For further information I have some custom scripts I've created (ala https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/22499/solved-time-dependent-startup-into-either-es-or-desktop) and hacked/modified configurations.

Anyway thoughts from experienced admins greatly appreciated.
