Wow! Thanks a lot :). Yes, it's very real :).
You should try to build something, I'm sure you can make it! And a bouns is all the knowledge you get when doing it. -
Incredible build!
-
Great work @stahl80. I can see that a lot of care and attention to detail went into this and it has really paid off. The finished article is fantastic.
Well done!
-
That is fantastic !!! love what you have made.

@stahl80
The class turned out, console case. -
Those pelican cases aren't cheaper either!
-
This i a pice of art. I am truly impressed.
-
Thanks for all the positive comments!!!!
-
@stahl80 Then I'm gonna do a negative one: this gorgeus build is not mine! :-(
Congratulations dude!!
-
Fantastic build.
Two questions: How much does it weigh?
If you were to do it over again, what would you have done differently?
-
Not exactly sure about the weight, but quite heavy I would say. But not so heavy that its a issue, guess it's more of a bring it and play somewhere else than gaming on the go device. But of course it will work fine anywhere you can sit down and play.
What I would do different, quite hard question. A lot and nothing :). I'm pleased with the result with in mind that it's my first "major" build like this. I always wanted a bigger display but choose the smaller with powerconsumption and powerdraw in mind. I also wanted hdmi out but it wasn't possible to get that working smooth with that display and setup, also wanted a micro sd cardslot in the panel to swap between different systems quick but couldn't find a good panel mounted sd slot, still able to do that but directly on the Pi then.
Otherwise I think it turned out a lot like I imagine it :). And agin, thanks for all the positive comment, overwhelmed 😁.

Haha 😂
-
@stahl80 Wow, this is such a cool build and has a very great style/design! I love it! It looks like you have a keyboard underneath just in case, great idea! That last picture of the insides looks like you're making a briefcase bomb...probably can't get on an airplane with this case! One of my cousins took an airplane overseas to Africa with an old original Gameboy and the security had to take it apart to make sure there wasn't anything dangerous in it lol. I guess they already had the Nintendo Security Bit screwdriver to take those apart!
-
Thank you! Yes that is correct, there is a keyboard inside the unit. It's underneath the gamepads and it held in place by the magnetic fastened top panel and behind the battery's compartments, so you fold up the top panel and then lift it out if you want to edit stuff in retro pie, go to the console or use the gui. It has a trackpad on it to so no need for a mouse.
Haha, yes I highly doubt it would go through any airport security 😂 , although it's very easy to lift the panel and show the inside. -
This causes me such a torrent of emotions. On one hand, it inspires me to create my own project. On the other, it makes me feel horribly inadequate in my own abilities.
Beautiful work! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for that comment!
I can tell you that when I started this build I didn't know if it would turn out like I imaged it or if it would just fail at some point, and several times I thought the later 😬.
I would love to see what you can build, and I bet it would be great!
