      Hello folks,

I am trying to educate my son on the joys of the 64, as opposed to his Switch. Boulderdash, Monty Mole, Wizard of Wor. How great were they?

I am struggling to set up a wired XBox controller. I know there are a lot of posts about this, but here is my question.

Is there a config file I can hand edit with the joystick/keyboard to joystick mappings?

All the fiddling about with the menus is no good for my boy, he is demanding plug and play. If I can edit the file directly, then I can rig up some buttons to the GPIO to change settings for various games.

Thanks a lot, folks. Sorry if this has been covered before, I did search (honest).

      Talk to you later.

Sit him down in front of a real C-64 loading from a cassette drive and waiting 20m for a game to load, only to fail and have to try and reload it again. That'll learn 'em. :P

System Config: Retropie 4.4 with full desktop, RPi 3B, 256gb SD, 5v 2.1A 5,200 mAH USB battery. EasyMSX controller mounted with Pimoroni Hyperpixel 4 (non touch). Also running 4.6 on a 4gb Pi 4 serving as my primary desktop computer now.

Indeed, before turbo tape hit the scene, them games took forever to load.

Me and my brother would just sit and stare at the blue screen. God forbid we'd pick up a book while we waited.

@monkeybus have you tried lr-vice? It provides onscreen keyboard support and easy exit via hotkey+start.

@monkeybus I remember when Compute! published Turbotape, it was unbelievably fast. Here are the technical details for those interested.
