Epic Noir - Dark Mode Theme

@Thorr69 Sorry about that. Ignore me then! I know it's based off the Supreme build but wasn't sure how others felt on it. >_<

This post is deleted! -
@chicuelo That's quite possible since I can correct the type size issue on FinalBurn Alpha by copying one of the other theme.xml files from other systems such as SNES and edit the file to get it to display correctly. However I think it is better that you fix it from the main source.
No it also happens on Wonderswan Color, ZX Spectrum and Custom collections. The only difference is that Wonderswan Color has a different ghosting with that of being black instead of the others with being grey. See picture.
@mitu I am using default resolution 1920x1080 on a PC monitor currently. I haven't tested other monitors or resolutions yet.

@tpo1990 Fba is now updated and live, you can reinstall the theme
I thik that text overlay is the logo placement because we are not using any system logo. Emulationstation has an option for the carrousel logos, try to disable it. -

-
@Thorr69 I thought the same, maybe we could place system the logo on a bottom layer to hide it, or simply set the position on 1 1.

The theme has been added to ES Themes, in case some people haven't noticed.
I am really looking forward to give this a spin on my setup.
Thank you again for this massive theme! -
@Brigane Thank you! and please give us your feedback!

Since I've changed the order of emulators in es_systems.cfg in opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation, the dots on the left side don't make sense. Even without changing the order they don't make much sense. Is there any remedy to this by rearranging them or removing them?
-
@Quackwalks Yes, you have to order by yourself. You have to rename the files in order to match your system list.
If your first system is megadrive, you rename as megadrive the dot file wich has the white dot in first position, if your second system is nes, you rename as nes the one who has the white dot on the second place..
Do that across your first 16 systems and you have power, settings and favorites in the las 3 positions in case you use more than 16 systems.
Since retropie doesn´t have an indication system it is an emulated way to achieve that misfunction -
Here's a detail I'm sure will annoy people. The art for SNES has "The Legend Of Zelda" in the top right while N64 has "The Legend of Zelda". Also, the text at the bottom states that button X favorites, but X is for random selection.
-
It look's good, i use the 4:3 version on my arcade system, just thank you !
-
@Quackwalks the legend of zelda (a link to the past) and the legend of zelda (ocarina of time) are games for each system so that´s why they both are the legend of zelda.
-
@chicuelo The SNES has a capital O in "of" and the n64 doesn't. I know it's nitpicking but just something I noticed.
-
@Quackwalks Thanks, I think you where talking about the game name. On the next big update I will fix it
-
First off I love the theme. Noticed things other have pointed out. The dots... How do I change the systems to align with the dots?
I've got the ghost writing in virtual boy, wonderswan, wonderswan colour and favourites too.
Beautiful artwork though.
-
@Jste84 I will make a tutorial about changing the dots, basically you have to rename the dot images in order to match your system order. It´s very simple but most users are asking frequently.
Im still figuiring out about the ghost text, check your ES menu a logo display option, maybe its trying to display something or you have enabled any related option -

I've been making the theme more friendly with retropie. Thanks for sharing. It's still a little sluggish but I've been working hard on it as I love the theme you made.I removed the bottom navigation bar as it doesn't seem nice to disable on screen help and enable for other themes. I compressed images further, edited the background at the bottom and changed some things in theme xml
I'm still working on it to improve more speed I've managed to get rid of the white screens when scrolling to fast by adjusting the above. But sometimes it gets delays when scrolling. Not got this with other themes I'm sure it will get better with time.
-
@RetroJoe Depending on how much systems you have, retropie will handle them fine or not. And depending on your system. If you use a pc you will have not issues with performance. On a pi if you split memory properly and adjust the vram you will get a great performance also.
I decided to remove the info because everyone knows how to navigate. At least you know how to go up and down, and you have favs, back and enter on the bottom plus the game info.

@chicuelo Thank you for fixing the FinalBurn Alpha system that now display as it should. I have now done some more testing. On my Raspberry Pi 3B in UI Settings I have tried disabling the following options:
Quick System Select
,Carousel Transitions
,Enable Filters
and restarted Emulationstation. Still it does not fix the ghosting text problem. The only solution to this at the moment is to not have Wonderswan and Wonderswan Color installed as a system, since those are the only systems I have seen that causes it.I also have tested your theme on my Raspberry Pi 4B with the latest nightly unofficial RetroPie to see if there is any difference and the problem is the same with the ghosting text. I even tried displaying on a TV instead of my PC monitor. Another thing to fix is the white images from when you scroll fast through all the systems. This increases more after when you have played a game, then exit and try to scroll through all the systems again.
In the end this is a really nice theme and I think it is the best theme design created of all the other themes out there from my opinion, but it has some quirks that needs to be solved in order to increase stability.
