Epic Noir - Dark Mode Theme
-
@RetroJoe Depending on how much systems you have, retropie will handle them fine or not. And depending on your system. If you use a pc you will have not issues with performance. On a pi if you split memory properly and adjust the vram you will get a great performance also.
I decided to remove the info because everyone knows how to navigate. At least you know how to go up and down, and you have favs, back and enter on the bottom plus the game info.

@chicuelo Thank you for fixing the FinalBurn Alpha system that now display as it should. I have now done some more testing. On my Raspberry Pi 3B in UI Settings I have tried disabling the following options:
Quick System Select
,Carousel Transitions
,Enable Filters
and restarted Emulationstation. Still it does not fix the ghosting text problem. The only solution to this at the moment is to not have Wonderswan and Wonderswan Color installed as a system, since those are the only systems I have seen that causes it.I also have tested your theme on my Raspberry Pi 4B with the latest nightly unofficial RetroPie to see if there is any difference and the problem is the same with the ghosting text. I even tried displaying on a TV instead of my PC monitor. Another thing to fix is the white images from when you scroll fast through all the systems. This increases more after when you have played a game, then exit and try to scroll through all the systems again.
In the end this is a really nice theme and I think it is the best theme design created of all the other themes out there from my opinion, but it has some quirks that needs to be solved in order to increase stability.

@tpo1990 I make some changes over the main xml hiding and reducing the size of the carousel logo sicne we dont use this feature and I assume this is the text is displaying. When my partner make the PR it will be live.
About the white screen, There is no way I can change the bacground color, so I also get that light gray color when I exit a game or when you go fast across systems. It would be great to have a tag and set a bacgkround color like an html file, but unfortunately I haven´t found this feature, instead I used a 1x1 black pixel and stretched all across the screen to make the background black

@chicuelo if you need someone to test it let me know 👍
-
@Jste84 When the changes are applied I will let you know!
-
@chicuelo Sounds great. I will look forward to seeing the changes and the theme live on RetroPie repository.
Maybe some other theme creators have a clue about how to get away with the white screen. Keep up the good work. Thanks. :-)
-
@tpo1990 Im waiting for my partner to upload the changes, but you could try replacing this on your main theme.xml
unfortunately the white flash that appears when you exit a game has no solution. At least I could not find one yet. Using a black background has the same result because the true ES backgroudn is dark gray and the theme loads over that<carousel name="systemcarousel"> <type>vertical</type> <color>00000000</color> <origin>1 1</origin> <pos>1 1</pos> <size>0.01 0.01</size> <logoScale>1</logoScale> <logoSize>0.01 0.01</logoSize> <maxLogoCount>0</maxLogoCount> </carousel>

Hi Chicuelo (buenas tardes)
I'm new with RetroPie and I just finish to install your theme (is amazing !! congrats !!!)
But I have some questions
I put my roms in a HDD and I follow the rules to name the folders, but I found that no all the systems shows when I browse the interface.
This is my current list, I wonder if I have some wrong here
It's possible to put some personal image or name the system if the system is no cover from the theme itself ? (if its possible can you say how can I do this ??)List of systems in my storage (I will check the directory permissions)

@iMacosiris Hola Marcos! saludos desde buenos aires tambien! decime cual es el problema que tenes por que si instalas directo deberia andarte, solamente tenes que poner el nombre correcto de las carpetas donde vas a guardar los roms. Escribime a mi mail cualquier cosa!

@chicuelo Great success. What you posted has solved the ghosting text problem that Wonderswan and Wonderswan Color had. Now I can start using the theme. Thank you very much.

Would it be possible to change the poster for Super Famicom to something other than the Legend of Zelda since it is the same as in Super Nintendo.
I think changing the poster for Super Famicom to something like Super Bomberman SFC would be nice.
One more thing. Is it possible to add Pokemon Mini as a system in your theme?https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Pokemon-Mini
-
Amazing theme and thank you for your work. As a request, is it possible to have different arts for Sega32X and Segacd? Saludos y felicitaciones :D
-
@tpo1990 You can manually change the game of super famicom renaming a game you like. I have searched for bobmerman but there are no good arts for it. When i have some time I will work arround on that, but I think zelda series where the best games on both snes and N64
-
@Clipo You can manually rename the files, you can use space harrier on 32x and doom on mega cd, I think those who have one system don´t use the others
-
Love this theme, probably the most beautiful available for retropie!
Would be great if you can add graphics for CPS I, II, III, Atomiswave and Naomi.
-
@chicuelo hi mate - just wondering if you managed to pull anything together for fixing the order of the dots?
-
@potatoxbe Yes, I would upload them soon!
-
@Jste84 Yes, read the post where explains how to match. You have to rename the png files acording to your systems. It´s very easy!
To make the indicator work with your build, you have to rename the png files located in ../art/indicator/.png , acording to your es_system order:
If your first system is mame, you have to rename the png with the first white dot as "mame", if your second system is Neo Geo, you rename the png with the second white dot as "neogeo", and doing so until you achieve your systems with a limit of 16 systems.
In case you dont have a power menu, you can replace this item too. Retropie and favorites are already set. -
@chicuelo thank you 👌

Now next I'm trying to get the shutdown working.
I've followed a guide but I'm struggling with this
Finally convert shutdown and reboot scripts within "~/Retropie/roms" into executable's by the commands:
a. chmod +x ~/RetroPie/roms/power/ashutdown.sh
b. chmod +x ~/RetroPie/roms/power/reboot.shI'm getting permission denied when I try and execute them. So I think I've done something wrong!
Also the dots are fixed apart from power... Which is finding the right icon... But is being selected in alphabetic order... Rather than at the end
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
