Epic Noir - Dark Mode Theme
-
@chicuelo waiting man , i hope you add more and more system to be a universal theme, and every one be able to use it for every day .
-
I have two questions concerning chicuelos great work:
-
i tired to follow the installation-instructions in the download link of the first post: "cd ~/.emulationstation/themes
git clone https://github.com/c64-dev/es-epicnoir.git --branch master" / i was asked for my "git-hub username" to continue. Do i have to register to download the theme? -
After that i had a look if the Noir-Theme is alleready available in the themes-section of retropie_setup. It was not, but i saw something like "chicuelo arcade theme" in the list. Does this concern to my installed Chicuelo-Theme which is no longer available? If so, can i still update / is it worth updating (still works great, no issues)?

@sirhenrythe5th
If you have troubles downloading the theme you can manually download via web and transfer via ftp to your themes folder in
opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation/themes/ and place it there. Then you select the theme and you are ready to go.
Make sure you have installed emulation station-Dev in order to work on your pi.The other theme on the list was my first theme, it was free to download too until I saw several people selling their pi or cabs with this theme and claiming as a their so I shutted down. This theme is free by now but it depends on peoples behave.
-
@Mr-Berlin I think 88 systems is quite a good and big theme don't you think? Most of the systems people use are supported so I think you can actually use it every day!
Which other systems would you like to find? -
@chicuelo This theme is added to BATOCERA theme rooster, too

Oi.. Well, I WAS looking forward to using this theme, but now have to pass. Why is the DEV version required????
-
@Thorr69 I thought if you upgraded your RetroPie to the latest version using the update script, you should get all of the emulationstation fixes that DEV has.
-
@GeekOB Thanks! we appreciate feedback!
-
@cyperghost What is theme rooster?
-
@Thorr69 Modern themes take advantage of new ES features, if you don't have the latest version you won't see the theme

As far as features are concerned, I think the stable should be pretty much on par with the dev version, there have been a few fixes for the Grid view that are not yet part of the stable branch.
@Thorr69 just give it a try and see if it works.
-
@chicuelo It is a selection of themes inside ES Main Menu. So users can easily install. Batocera-linux is full compatible with RetroPie themes.
-
Wow! This is great work! Thanks!
-
Wonderful. Thanks for the great work!.
-
@cyperghost Yes, the idea is to allow this theme runs under es menu, but its not uploaded on my GitHub so we have to wait to Nik to make a pull request
-
@chicuelo I assume you did not understand ;) It's already added. BATOCERA is annother retro OS. You can consider its capabilites between RECALBOX and RETROPIE.
-
@cyperghost Yes, I know batocera, but who and how was added the theme on batocera?

I updated the core packages to the latest and installed the theme. It works (mostly).

Nick has made the pull request already.
https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/pull/3099It should be merged to the main RetroPie project soon and it will be available through the es menu. :)
Please note that this is for the 16:9 version of the theme. If anyone wants the 4:3 version they need to get it directly from the link in the 1st post of the thread.
Enjoy! :)
