@mattrixk Thank you, sir. I'm a big fan of MetaPixel and Spare as well. I have both.
Aww shucks, you'll make me blush!
-
@SeraphisCain I did, once again, attempt to find a decent quality image for the PCE CD but had no luck. If you happen to find one, let me know!
-
@Zachariel Yeah, I've spent some time looking myself and haven't been able to find anything either. Ah well!
If I ever do find one though, I'll be sure to let you know.
-
@Zachariel Hey, it's been a while so I'm not sure if you're still checking this thread, but if so, any chance you could add the Neo Geo CD? I've got a handful of NGCD games that are currently lumped in with my normal NG games that I'd like to split off into their own category.
-
@SeraphisCain Sure, glad to. Always glad to improve the theme and cover more systems! I'll probably be adding it in the next couple of days.
I also got curious and checked the Retropie website's themes list and now I'm wondering how I get my theme added to that list. Does anyone know?
-
@Zachariel Just modify the page and submit a PR to the RetroPie-Docs project.
-
@SeraphisCain I have updated the theme, NeoGeo CD should now be there. Let me know if there are any issues.
-
Hi, I'm still very happy with your theme! I made another system entry for PC98 (for which I just used another system as template and added the system image from the RetroPie docs) and that came out ok. Maybe you can think about adding pc98 at some point in the future? ;)
Another thing I noticed now, is that some text ist barely readable. This occurs when using subdirectories for systems with a bright background (from the top of my head: Amiga, Arcade and especially the custom collections). Where can I change the textcolor for subfolders?
-
@Zachariel Thanks, I appreciate it! I'll let you know if there's any issues.

@ecto Have you tried updating the theme? I had the same issue some months back and Zachariel updated the theme and fixed the text colors on several affected categories (I know Amiga in particular was one of them).
EDIT: @Zachariel, the Neo-Geo CD logo has the same issue the PlayStation logo used to have, where it fades into the background completely during transitions since it's all black. I edited it in Inkscape, changing it to 80% black, and it looks a lot better. Though, the D in "CD" didn't quite take to the recoloring for whatever reason, and looks a bit...off. It's not a big deal for me, but perhaps you can make it work where I couldn't.

Yeah, I tried that. I know that the textcolor of the rom names is ok. It's just the textcolor of the subdirectories that are not readable. I'm using subdirectories to sort the roms into categories (such as Action, RPG, Adventure, Sports, etv.). As soon as I change into one of those subdirectories/categories, the text of the roms names is perfectly readable.
-
@SeraphisCain Yeah, SVGs get really screwed up sometimes for some reason, and I'm usually only able to fix them with Illustrator. I will say that even though I never put it in the ReadMe or anything, my theme was intended and designed to be used with the "instant" transition style. I hadn't considered that any other transition would cause any useability issues. Try instant and see how you like it.
@ecto I assume you're talking about the subfolders you can use within a category/system right? My assumption was that it should take the same font color as was set for ROM names. As far as I know, there's no way to specifically select what color subfolders will be. I'll see if I can find any info on it to correct it.
Oh, and I'd be happy to add PC98. I'll try and get to it in a few days.
EDIT: Alright, I see what it is already. Trouble is, out of 165 systems/categories I didn't make any notes on which ones needed the game list color changed. If you could give me a list of all the systems/categories you're having the problem with, I'll be glad to fix those first.

Yes, I think we mean the same thing: If I create a folder
roms/amiga/Adventure
, it also appears in the Emulationstation's detailed view. You can change into that folder with the press of a button and then the ROMs inside that folder are listed. As I said, the textcolor of the ROM names are ok, but the textcolor of the folders are not.Oh, and I'd be happy to add PC98. I'll try and get to it in a few days.
Yay! This is great, thanks!

IIRC, all folders have a nearly white textcolor. So every system with a bright background color of the ROM list is affected when using subfolders. From the top of my head I remember this affects the "amiga", "arcade" and especially the "custom-collections" systems. These are the only systems I use subfolders with, because I have the most ROMs for those.

You can colour subfolder names in a text list using the secondaryColor element; primaryColor is used for rom names.

@smartazz104 Thank you for the information. I actually looked at the code and figured that out just seconds after I posted. lol
@ecto Alright, I've changed the ones you mentioned, and I'll just have to go through and change each other category later. Let me know if you noticed any other issues.
-
@Zachariel I finally had some time to try out the new colors and now they are perfectly readable. Thanks for fixing that! :D
-
Oh yeah, I second Ecto's request for PC98, by the way. That'll be my motivation to finally try it out on RetroPie, lol.
-
@ecto No problem, glad to do it! I'll see if I can't get that other category going soon.
-
Very nice theme! I just tried it out and it works fine on my Pi 4 after setting ES's VRAM limit to 160 MB. I haven't checked all systems, but the Arcade system's game description field font color is 000000, which means it's black text on black background. It should be FFFFFF. As for new systems, the only other system/custom collection I personally would be interested in seeing would be Super Game Boy. Keep up the good work!
-
@G30FF Yup, thanks for finding that. Should be fixed now.
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but isn't Super Game Boy just an adapter? They're still just Game Boy games, right? I'm not sure it would make sense for there to be a different category for that.
-
Thanks for the fix!
That's true, the Super Game Boy is an adapter, which unlocks some features in some games (that don't work on a Pi 4 without overclocking so BSNES runs at close to full speed). I only suggest it as a custom collection that might be fun to have, along the lines of say the NES Classic Mini or SNES Classic Mini. Not nearly as important as actual new systems.
Keep up the good work!
