Fantastic job. =]

That's really cool... How much did it cost from Vetash32?
I'd love something like this. Would be great if you did a write-up. I'm particularly interested in how it works with the PS3/4 fighting board - how it's configured to work for both RPi and PS3/4. Did you make any accommodations for multiplayer with RPi? Like for a USB controller?

An Arcade Joystick from Vetash32 is around 200USD without postage ( i know it is a bit expensive, but it is in fact made for professional gamer). And the brook fighting board is just for PS4/PS4 and PC(xinput and DirectInput both). Once you want to play it with your PS4, then just plug the USB and your PS4, once you need it for your RetroPie, just plug it back with short USB cable( the blue one i use in the photo is just around 20cm)
And yes, i did play SFII the very very first version using mame with a friend also owns the vetash32's joystick. And we have fune with these. :)
And it is quite easy to work with retropie, just plug the USB into rpi2/3 and once you have it setup correctly with retropie/ES and it works fine.
And, as i mentioned above, this joystick frame from vetash32 is made for professional gamers. The vetash32's joystick is in fact quite famous between most Street Fighter pro gamers. For example, the grand final of EVO 2015. The left side player, GamerBee from taiwan used same model of joystick and he won the #2 of USFIV EVO2015.
And the winner of EVO2015, momochi from Japan, also ordered one from vetash32 after the competition: his twitter about the joystick: https://twitter.com/chocoblanka/status/674896075338092544
and the photo of his customized one:

Ahh I see how it works.
So as far as the work you put into it... was the fighting board installed by vetash32 already? And you just took care of installing the RPi and configuring it correctly to work with the board?

Yes the fighting board is pre installed, but in fact it is an optional board, u can select PS3 only board or u can use no board and just hook buttons to GPIO on your own.

SEGA Mega Drive Style.
Nintendo Super Famicom
And it is about time to use both of them to play Street Fighter II. :)

What a wonderful little package you created. Awesome job.
Where do you like to shop for buttons and joystick parts? I am considering some more stylish balltops for my cabinet.
