New Evercade VS home console for up to 4 players
-
Hello to everyone,
I hope that it's okay to post this here, since the forum is designated for "RetroPie and gaming". I just stumbled upon this announcement and want to share it and maybe talk a bit about it.
From that site:
the VS can have two carts simultaneously, expanding the available playable game library to up to 40 games at any one time. [...] The VS will allow for support for up to four players with Evercade Game Controllers or other USB Game Controllers.
I already own an Evercade handheld with a couple of cartridges. It can be connected to an external screen via HDMI, but it lacks any multiplayer capabilities. Many existing Evercade games however are said to already have multiplayer built-in for future hardware that will support it.
I like that the VS will support four players by default instead of having a four player adapter like other consoles do. USB connectors are fine with me, especially if they are not restricted to Evercade's own controllers. I can understand that they forgo BT to reduce costs and hardware complexity. The dual-cartridge capability is a nice detail that may reduce the stress on the connectors from frequent module swapping. It could even allow for combined modules like updates or addons for the games.
What are your thoughts about the Evercade VS? Do you already have the handheld? Will you (probably) buy the home console?
Cheers
Clyde
