MetaPixel - A New Emulationstation Theme
-
I've updated screenshots for Amiga, Atari 8-bit family, Atari 2600, Atari 5200, Atari 7800, Atari Lynx, Atari ST, MSX, and Sega SG-1000. I plan on revisiting the rest of the systems that I added, at least the ones that play in small resolutions. These screenshots are almost the same as the previous ones, the difference being the method for resizing them. The upside is that they should look much sharper. The downside is that pixels may be shifted around a bit and not be where they should be.
Also I've added, TRS-80 Color Computer, Odyssey 2/Videopac, and Z-Machine.
For the Z-Machine I wasn't quite sure what to do with screenshots since it's a virtual machine for text adventure games, so I used intro text from The Witness and Border Zone.
Also, it turns out that the hex code for silver is #C0C0C0, so I used that for CoCo's background color.

that looks tight
so dumb question. how do we get your new files on to our boxes, or it is better just to wait for them to update the theme on retropie's end?

@ExarKunIv
Note: make sure you've already install MetaPixel from the ES Themes menuJust go to @CourierSS 's Updated Dropbox Folder and click the Download button at the top right of the page, click "No thanks, continue to download" at the bottom of the next window which will download
metapixel.zip
Then push that
metapixel.zip
file to your Raspberry Pi and run this from the command prompt in the same directory with this file:
sudo unzip -o metapixel.zip -d /etc/emulationstation/themes/metapixel/
Last, restart EmulationStation

I've added three more systems: Famicom Disk System, ZX Spectrum, and Commodore 64. I'll be busy for maybe a week so I won't be able to do more systems in the meanwhile.
Edit: Changed FDS background color to be bluish like rest of Nintendo systems. There are also two versions for the screenshot on the right for the FDS. Resizing with nearest neighbors created pixel artifacts that are more noticeable than usual, in particular the main character's face and the spider webs (same spider webs but look different due to resizing), but the width of the screenshot matches the actual game play. The one I left as default is zoomed in but is pixel perfect.

@CourierSS: You're doing some great work. I am going on holiday for a week (leaving in about 30 minutes) so I won't be making any updates until I get back.
-
@mattrixk Thanks and have a good one!
-
thank you so much

I've added Amstrad CPC, Apple II, Macintosh, MESS, PC (DOS), Sam Coupe, and TRS-80. I also made minor changes to various system descriptions (should be just those that were made after the github update), added the odyssey2 folder (counterpart to videopac folder) and mvs folder (counterpart to Neo Geo with modified system description), and updated screenshots for Z-machine and Atari 2600.

Adding the following: Adventure Game Studio, Dragon 32/64, LOVE, PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16 CD, TI- 99, and Intellivision. I also added tg16 folder (counterpart to pc engine) and famicom folder (counterpart to SNES). I also modified the description for Arcade.
To make the text in the Gemini Rue screenshot visible for AGS, I had to retype the text so that's not how the font actually appears in-game. Also I assumed that any AGS games were compatible so I'm not sure if the games in the screenshots actually work on the RetroPie. For LOVE 2D engine, unfortunately it doesn't have a Wikipedia article so I couldn't really make a system description.
Edit: Added Bonk's Revenge screenshot to pcengine and tg16 as alternative.

@CourierSS These look great!
A small request. The European Snes had the same look as the Super Famicom but with the same text/font as the American version.
It was added to pixeltheme a few days ago
UPDATE 10/25/2016: Version (1.91). Added European/Japanese SNES (Raname consoleEU.png to enable)
-
Sure. The SNES folder should now have the same console/logo files.

@CourierSS
Thanks for all your work on this. I did notice that for PC Engine/TG16 the left picture is for Castlevania: Rondo of Blood which is technically a PC Engine Super CD-ROM² System/TGCD game and not on a HuCard . You might put a picture of Bonk's Adventure instead because that was like what Mario was for NES or Sonic was for Megadrive/Genesis or maybe even what Crash Bandicoot was for PSX lol. -
Actually that screenshot was originally created by mattrixk for the PC Engine folder. Since I could place CD games into that folder and play them, it didn't cross my mind that the pce-cd/tg-cd folders existed until I looked through Rookervik's Pixel theme. Also I'm not sure if the PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16 wiki mentions the existence of these last three folders, so I figured that most would probably use the PC Engine folder for their CD games and that Castlevania: Rondo of Blood would still be appropriate.
But since they do exist, I've added a screenshot for Bonk's Revenge as an alternative in the pcengine and tg-16 folders. Thanks for the feedback.

@CourierSS I update the carbon and pixel themes quite often with systems people ask for. Not saying I want you to keep an eye on my themes for more stuff to port to your theme. :P
-
Haha I'm actually almost finished with adding all of the systems from the Pixel Theme. There should just be Desktop, Pipplware, Steam, and System left if I'm not mistaken.
-
Added Desktop, Pipplware, Steam, and System.
The MetaPixel theme should now have reached parity in number of systems with the Pixel theme. I don't think I saw a system folder for Oric-1/Atmos in the Pixel theme, so I haven't created that one.
For the most part, there are only minor adjustments left. Mainly just background colors (making sure that systems by the same creator has similar colors and change as a gradient when going to newer hardware), possible font issues (can't handle CD-ROM² and NEO・GEO), and maybe stylistic/grammar errors.

@CourierSS this is impressive! Been wanting Steam to finish out my RetroPie.
An issue I noticed was in Famicom Disk System, I can't tell which game is highlighted on the left unless I get right up to the screen and can barley make out the color differences lol.
-
I noticed that too, and thought it was just me
-
Should be fixed now. I accidentally deleted a line in the theme.xml file.
-
@backstander: I'd never heard of the PC Engine before getting into RetroPie, so for that one I pretty much just googled "pcengine screenshot" or something similar and found the best looking images.
@CourierSS has been doing a fantastic job picking up from where my laziness left off. I originally just made folders for the systems I use/would potentially use in future, and just left it at that.
