I have a Pi 1 (I am new with Retropie and Pi systems). I notice any gaming systems that is 32 bit or lower (NES, TG16, etc) play fine. But when I use Mame it seems that the all the games have a lag (or drag) to them. I am thinking of getting a Pi3 (more power etc). But would getting the Pi3 fix my lagging with Mame? Or is there something I am missing with the Pi1.

Which version of MAME are you running?

Try mame4all-pi as it appears to use the least resources. It should be perfectly playable with a Pi1 B

@Floob thank you I will try that. I think I am currently using acarde-mame. As for retropie I downloaded the version for pi0 and Pi1.
