AetherSX2 - PS2
-
This emulator is now available on the Google Play Store, and performance seems to be very impressive. Even if there was a Linux port, it seems we'd need a better Pi to run it.
-
@dodonpachi Yeah, it considers an A75 CPU to be low end for performance.
-
Finally the PS2 on the Pi question is answered. I seem to be a one man shilling machine for ETA Prime's videos at the moment.
-
@george-spiggott I'm a fan of his videos! Though it could do more than I thought it would, 2D performance seems impressive. I just wish he tried games that weren't already playable on flycast with Naomi. I wonder how games like Tales of Destiny R or Sengoku Basara X would run?
Too bad it's android only, too. Would be a nice addition to my current retropie setup.

@windg Looks like a version for the pi is out but it wouldn't run for me. I don't remember the errors. Probably requires the desktop.

From the linked page:
Please note if you want to use a Raspberry Pi 4, you'll need to switch to the Vulkan renderer, as the Pi's GL driver does not support GLES3.2, which we require.

Sad news about this project.
I don't undersand why someone to create those issues to a developer of a program that give you the ability to play old video games. -

Sadly there are tons of mentally ill people in the emulation community.
[MODE RANTING ON]
A "certain developer" of a "certain project" has been stalking me since 2019, in retaliation to something his ill mind think i have done, seeking every opportunity to antagonize me, jumping into my discussions with other people just for the sake of polarizing the debate.
Just a few months ago, with another guy, he was literally trying to kill FBNeo's libretro port by forbidding future updates due to unnecessary concerns about netplay retrocompatibility, throwing rock at us because apparently "we don't care enough about netplay"... what a joke considering his own project is not even netplay compatible.
Tbh, sometimes i think of quitting too.

Not sure about the Raspberry Pi but you can run AetherSX2 on the OrangePi 5. My guess is the Raspberry Pi 4 would be too and it requires the X desktop.
If you want to test it download load the AppImage, chmod it to make it executable, and run it. Works out of the box.
wget https://www.aethersx2.com/archive/desktop/linux/AetherSX2-v1.5-3606.AppImage
sudo chmod 775 AetherSX2-v1.5-3606.AppImage
./AetherSX2-*.AppImageI've only tried a few games with mixed results. Gauntlet and Soul Calibur II worked great.

Hi @ExarKunIv and @retropieuser
I tried AetherSX2 with your Retropie-Extra script and unfortunatly it doesn't load on my Pi5. Kernel8 is activated and I already run PPSSPP and Dolphin with XINIT-WM and I got the good bios
here's my runcommand.log
Now, I'm stuck. Do you know why it won't load?
