      Hello!
Iv'e just posted a video for my New version of Chiaki. My Raspberry Pi focused version of the awesome open source Remote Playstation 4&5 Play Client.
Part of the motivation to do a new version was to make it better to use with Retropie. It runs nicely without X11 (in fact its the preferred way) and it has new Gamepad navigable GUI.

      YouTube Video:

I have a previous Chiaki version too at the same repo but these are the new features of this new version, "RPI02":

      • Works with both h264 and h265 codecs.
      • Gamepad navigable GUI with some basic settings.
      • Displays on the tty/cli screen using kmsdrm. (Ie without X11)
      • OpenGL display on the Desktop.
      • Can build on Raspberry 32bit and 64bit ,RPiOS, Ubuntu, Debian and Retropie.
      • Does not use the legacy RPiOS decode and display stack/libraries.
      • Still works with both PS4 & PS5 same as before.

One drawback with this new version is that the special avcodec this needs hasn't gotten upstreamed as I was betting on. This is included by default on RPiOS Bullseye but not for Buster (Which Retropie currently uses).

Follow this link for more info and easy to follow build+install instructions:

EXTRA Instructions for Retropie - please read before you attempt!

WARNING! I don't know if the updated Mesa or SDL versions will somehow interfere with the emulators.

More info here about over internet remote play,

The video only shows it working with a Playstation 4 but it also works on PS5 which I recently patched for and tested. Using h265 on PS5 works and is recommended as it works more efficiently.

I'd love to hear your feedback!

      Cheers
      Fred

@RedMarsBlueMoon This is good news:) can I update my existing Chiaki install? (Pi4 ,pi desktop)
I just tried to connect again but for some reason can’t anymore. It asked for a 4 digit pin but the ps5 gives me an 8 digit one to connect with:(
Edit: don’t know what I did but it’s connected!

Hi I don't actually own a PS5 so it's a bit tricky for me to test. I'm going to run some tests with my brother when he's back from holiday as he's got a PS5.

I'm a bit confused about the 'asking for a four digit pin' as my Chiaki program never asks for a pin after the initial registering. I have heard about others who had issues with some PS5 PIN but they actually had added a PS5 extra login PIN to stop their kids using it.

Are you using a ps5 login pin? (Unrelated to Remote Play)

Could you please take a look at this thread and see if it's the same issue?

Maybe I need to add something for those extra PINs.

Just made an update to this,

            • Remote over the internet play. (you can do 2player co-op using this)
            • Crucial screengrab for background feature.
            • New backported RPiOS Bullseye Mesa version means the 'build Mesa from source' step can now be omitted.

Next up is an install script for the custom avcodec that's needed when using Buster and Ubuntu etc.

I've now managed to get this working with the standard Retropie 4.8 image on a Raspberry Pi 4b!

OP updated with the new instructions!

The full process is quite some work and not tested together with other emulators. Updates to Mesa, SDL and FFmpeg are neccessary for Retropie 4.8.
