Jukebox for Pi?
-
Anyone know of a good Jukebox project for pi? Is there a Jukebox image out there I can flash and fill with mp3's? Thanks
-
You can try deadbeef from the retropie-extra repository from the awesome @zerojay.
It will play all kinds of music, including mp3s and chiptune formats. -
Thanks Zigurana I will check this out, Appreciate the response. Cheers!

I just came across Rune Audio today, I really like that one.
-
I've been looking into https://volumio.org/
Not exactly a jukebox, but it's a prety cool audio play. I'm thinking of using this to breath live into a Pi B+ with cheap DAC -
@Ekstreme Nice find... Will check this one out. Thanks
-
That Volumio looks AMAZING!
Would be ideal if we could get it to launch on boot and quit back to ES (this would make it DEAL for cantina entertainment).
-
I got myself a cheap DAC off ebay to see how good it can be. I'll let you know when it arrives
-
@Ekstreme Please do, I was looking at those DACS myself the other day. I may get the one with the RCA outs.
-
i use Rune Audio

@plasmah77 THis is the one I got. Not idea how good it is yet though: eBay DAC
I'll get a better one once this POC works -
I finally had time to try this out. WOW even with the 3.5mm audio jack it's a damn good application. Can't wait for my DAC to arrive now so my pi B+ can come alive again!
-
@Ekstreme Wow! So just using the jack is better? Great news, I'm going to be building a bartop for this pi3 I got and am going to use a VGA monitor with a HDMI to VGA converter. This is why I need to use that 3.5mm jack cause I know that converter loses the HDMI audio. Good news!
-
I'm not sure about better. I don't have my DAC module to compare against yet. It does work through the 3.5mm jack perfectly well though.
-
My DAC finally turned up today. Hopefully I get some time over the wekeend to have a play with it
-
@plasmah77 Hey mate. Finally got time to try it out tonight. Putting it simply, I would not build an amplified system without a DAC. Sounds great!!
I did have to change /boot/config.txt to dtparam=audio=off to get it to output properly though. Keep in mind, this is Volumio
