Runcommand System Splashscreens!
-
Ok, do upvotes mean it's ok like it is? Just need a wire-frame version and button colors?
-
Hokay, this will do. If you need more button text, hopefully you can follow the examples and make what you need.
You'll probably need GIMP to do the cutting and pasting easily.
-
Nicely done, sir!
-
I love it! I'll try making my own screens as a combination of your system splash screens with this underneath. It's going to be fantastic! THANKS!
-
Three questions:
1: is there a place on github where all these system screens are placed?
2: the screens seem to be widescreen. What happens if I put widescreen splash images on the pi and uses a 4:3 screen? Sides just cut?
3: the splash screens have "indexed colors" in GIMP, meaning if I copy your nice joystick and buttons directly, a lot of the shading is lost. How can I work around this? And why are the colors indexed in the first place? -
I know the answers for 1 and 2.
@AndersHP said in Runcommand System Splashscreens!:

Yes: https://github.com/ehettervik/es-runcommand-splash
By the way, I use that repository files to provide an easy way to install those runcommand launching images in your system. If you are interested take a look at this thread.
2: the screens seem to be widescreen. What happens if I put widescreen splash images on the pi and uses a 4:3 screen? Sides just cut?
Why not test? The answer is yes anyway... :)

@AndersHP The answer to number 3 is that the files are saved as 8-bit PNGs for EXTREMELY small file size. 8-bit can only handle 256 colors, so they are indexed. You can get around it by changing the color depth on the images. Otherwise GIMP will try to find colors that will match the best for each image. It's the same for all of the artwork in the Pixel theme.

@Rookervik
Thanks, clever solution.
I RGB'ed the splash screen, then pasted my buttons into it, and then re-indexed it to 256 colors, and now it's looking neat.I just thought about... Since you're working on the Pixel 2 theme - are you also working on updating the launch screens?
-
@AndersHP I should have updated the pixel launch screens already. I'm just lazy. Don't want to update 80 or so screens. Was thinking of fixing pixel's xml and using meleu's runcommand maker. LOL. But yeah I planned to redo them with the nicer logos. But I haven't even spruced up the console pixel art yet. Haha.
-
@Rookervik You just have to snap your fingers and I promptly write an specific pixel launching images generator script to fit your taste. :-)
That's the least I can do in gratitude to your hardwork on this project. ;-)

@Rookervik I hit my B button several times playing Metroid Fusion for GBA( I hate the double jump skill). The button crashes sometimes. I bought the rubber kit on http://www.geekbuying.com/item/Original-GPD-Win-Silicone-Pads-for-ABXY-Keys-375592.html.
If you need:
Only Geekbuying on web sells this kit. On youtube you will find the video for replace the rubber kit

@R1n0X Hahaha, thanks for the heads up. So far mine is running well. :D

@darksavior first, make sure you have the PCE CD individual "launching.png" in the "configs/pce-cd" folder
Then, edit the command line in the "configs/all/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg" line to the below:
<command>/opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh 0 SYS pce-cd %ROM%</command>'
where pce-cd is placed is where pcengine used to be for that emulators' config.
this is how I got my PCE CD specific launching image to load

@shizzmoney Yep, thanks. Figured it out months ago:)
-
@rookervik hi these are great! Some of my splash screens have a greyish background and not fully black so it doesnt blend in... is there something I can do to fix this for them all?
-
@skr1b Not really. I still need to re-do all of these. I have the graphics ready, it's just a lot of saving files.
-
@Rookervik Thanks for making these pixel launch screens!
-
@hyruleslink lol, you're welcome. I've made a couple others. I made this one for my friend so he can see some information before a game loads.
Made it super fast. I'd want to re-do it if others wanted to use it.
-
@rookervik can you help with trying to get this runcommand splash screen on DOSBox because it just doesn't work for some reason.
I have a pi2 and I am on retropie 4.2.17
-
@sammyboy Sadly, those controls don't do the same thing in DOSBox. DOSBox is a stand-alone emulator and has it's own set of controls.
This control configuration only works for Libretro-based systems that run in RetroArch (the default emulation platform for most systems on retropie)
