Managing Save States

I sometimes overwrite a save state by pushing save state instead of load state when a game starts.
I would like to have it this way. For each save state an incremental state is saved along with the screenshot. When loading a state within the game the last state is loaded. But when in Emulation Station and a game is selected all states are shown with their screenshot, and you can select whichever state to load. Forked states are just appended last in the list.
Would it bebpossible?

@Arcuza I think it's possible, but needs some hacking in a few files (e.g.
es_systems.cfg
,retroarch.cfg
,gamelist.xml
) and I think the game list in emulationstation would be a mess.
