I did this up as a quick little fix to the fact that there isn't an icon included in the repo for the "addon". Take it or leave it.

This was done by me in Photoshop. The icons were found by Google, just simple generic clip art. I added the numbers via an Atari font I had. I overlayed the retro color gradiant in the same direction as the controllers to make them appealing to the eyes. The gradiant should be familiar to anybody who's ever played retro games, as a lot of boot screens looked like that. Lastly I added some drop shadow to the numbers, as the controllers already had them. The background (white) is transparent, but nothing else is. I verified this looks good on my setup, which is using the default Carbon theme (ick I hate it).

Enjoy! Hope it gets some good use. Feel free to critique and change anything you want. All I did was paste some free clipart and add some text. So I don't care.

@hansolo77 cool! And thanks for sharing.

I ended up using the EmojiOne's joystick icon, as explained here: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/post/44427

        Cheers!

Cool, no problem. At least this gives people some alternatives. :) Happy to share anything that's useful.
