has anyone tried using a usb arcade control stick encoder with a gamecube arcade stick?

I have one of these arcade sticks laying around and wanted to know if anyone has tried making this into a arcade stick using one the arcade usb encoders?
I was going to use a usb game cube converter but from what I have read they don't work right with retro pie.
so I ordered the encoder and was going try and solder it to the tracks on the pcb board as it doesn't use micro switches for the buttons does anyone know if this will work?

I had a Dreamcast arcade stick laying around and converted it to a xbox 360 wireless arcade stick.

I replaced the stock buttons and stick with Sanwa products. I even created my own receiver dongle by using a RF module from a dead old xbox.

I connected everything to my Pi 3 and it works like a charm.

If you know how to solder then you definitely need to have a look at this site.

There under PCB and Wiring you should find a wide variety on controllers that can be used to build an arcade stick. In fact you can find everything you need there to even build one from scratch. You can use a custom PCB board like I-PAC for example or any other PCB, the theory is the same.

Thank you that seemshe to be very helpfull I had an idea to drill from back and soldering through I just need locate the grounding points.
