Futura Theme

Ah yes, i know the Newgen Theme. I take a look for this theme long time ago.
Dont laugh when you look into the xml file :-)
I have done the "for me simplest way" (example, the positions).
It is not my finished Version, i think i finished up the next days. Here you can see the not finished version:
EDIT: Deleted the Screenshots

Interesting....that favorites stuff is this in the Kids EmulationStation version?
And I see that you use numbers like 100.58, are you using those to hide them?
If yes, then you might want to use<pos>1 1</pos> <size>0.01 0.01</size>
...but that is up to you.
You said should use this in other systems? What systems do you mean? -
yes, to hide them.
Thank you for the right pos and size numbers.Actualy i made this theme for recalbox. And there are the favorites default.
-
Sieht sehr gut aus. Auch gut zu sehen dass die Umlaute mit dem Font kompatibel sind.
I am not familiar with Recalbox. I see you used the Universal XML Scraper. My theme looks similar to yours I also put the image larger on top and bottom I have the metadata without description.
Please go ahead and use/change/install/share the theme when and where ever you like. -
Stimmt, danke ebenso :-)
Die Umlaute in der Beschreibung haben aber nicht funktioniert. Das muß ich erneut testen und korrigieren.Thank you for your permission.
When i can do something, let me know. -
The Scumm and PC data looks good. I just need to find English explanation text and also find screenshots since I need them for the 10px versions too.
I need to take time over the weekend and do this. -
No rush :-)
Need you the screens i have used? Thanks again for the work.
-
If you can't get the Umlaute to show in the system description you could change the font type to this one for example.
I used it at the very beginning when I was building the Futura theme but it needs a commercial license to share and that is why I changed it.
I contacted the creator of the font and he said, if you don't share the font data itself and use it personally then it's OK.Still, strange that it doesn't work there but it does in the menu at the bottom for example.

Cool, good font.
But i i test it again with the other. When you need the screens i have used.

I didn't realize until earlier that I used the wrong center screenshot for the Atari 2600 theme lol. Here is the one that was meant to go with it if you want to replace it. I accidentally put a screenshot for the Basketball game instead of River Raid.
-
@cylum
lol, that is probably my bad I think. I chose that image.
I updated the image with yours and will push it to github as soon I get the MSDos and Scumm done.
Thank you. -

First off amazing theme! 10px Dark is my fav.
So I am running into a small issue involving the PC Engine/TurboGrafx 16. I have manually changed the 'theme' and 'platform' in /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg to tg16. While booted in EmulationStation it displays as a blank theme pcengine.
I've tried editing the theme.xml from system.svg to tg16.svg and that didn't change anything. Any tips/help?
Thanks!
-
Thank you.
The reason that is happening is there is no tg16 theme folder or theme. You have 2 choices;1.) Leave the es_systems.cfg entries as they were and just replace the logo path to tg16.svg.
2.) If you really want to have a dedicated tg16 theme folder and roms folder then you'll have to copy and paste the pcengine theme folder. Then change the logo path name and change all the pcengine description stuff like system_name or system_name_year. You most likely have to adjust positions too.
Also create a tg16 roms folder and add the definitions into the es_systems.cfg file.<system> <name>tg16</name> <fullname>Turbografx 16</fullname> <path>/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/tg16</path> <extension>.pce .ccd .cue .zip .PCE .CCD .CUE .ZIP</extension> <command>/opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh 0 _SYS_ pcengine %ROM%</command> <platform>pcengine</platform> <theme>tg16</theme> </system>
Not sure about the <platform> part though, last time I scraped my pc engine roms a lot f them had the Turbografx 16 covers. I think if you change that to tg16 it won't be able to scrape the roms. Try it once and if it doesn't scrape revert back to <platform>pcengine</platform> like in my sample above.
-
I hadn't even thought about the scraped media. All of my scraped data for my pcengine roms folder all show TG16 images granted I only have 20 or so games. So maybe that is what the platform is used for?
I may as well just revert the es_systems.cfg changes since your theme works a bit differently.
Thanks again!
-
Yes platform is used for scraping. If you say most or all your scraped images are TG16 versions then just replace the logo inside the pcengine theme folder and you are good to go.

I was wondering about this. If I download a theme that I enjoy from someone, and then modify it, some of the ones I have modified have had quite a few large modifications, is it okay to post and share with the community, with credit to the original creator of course?
Or is it frowned upon to post a theme that you did not create from the ground up?
Thanks guys and great work -
I can only speak for my theme here.
My theme comes with a CC (creative commons) license and that means you can take it, modify it, do what ever you like and release it again with credits to the original theme and creator.
Look at the included license.txt file for more info.
What you cannot do is sell the theme, probably any theme that is available in RetroPie.I took the layout idea from the Newgen theme by ruckage. So I mention him inside the readme file and inside the futura.xml file.
-
@HallelujahJaffar I think as long as you call the theme something else, and give proper credits to the original theme, then it should be okay. It also couldn't hurt to ask the original theme creator first.
The only theme(s) I can think of that wouldn't be okay with this are the Pixel themes. Rook spent a lot of time making his pixel icons and logos, and doesn't want anyone else to use them. I got away with it when I made MetaPixel because he didn't have a Pixel theme with metadata yet. As such MetaPixel is the only theme allowed to use the original Pixel artwork, but even MetaPixel isn't allowed to use the new Pixel artwork.

@FlyingTomahawk Thanks a lot for the reply. Yeah I definately do not wish or intend to steal or take credit for anyone's work. I've just started with a few themes and changed the wallpapers and such and added things like Steam logos and some custom SVG files and wasnt sure if I could share them or show how I did it. Thank you for the clarification.
