Neogeo question SORRY!!!!

@Corykrist1 It's going to be very hard for us to give you advice unless you have some grasp of the details. That alone may be beyond the scope of interest for some users. For example, you need to understand ROMs, what the files are and why they are grouped they way they are grouped. You need to understand MAME and how each version of MAME relies on a specific version of the ROM files (the ROMset). There's no shortcut to understanding. It takes time.
Also, keep in mind that the Raspberry Pi is an educational computer. It is designed to be tinkered with. That's part of the charm. Sure, it's also inexpensive, but support is community driven, and most of us have put in long hours of research and understanding to get working systems. For some of us, that includes a history with emulators that spans decades. This is the world you just wandered into. It's complex, extremely detailed, and at times very 'user unfriendly'. There is a lot of help to be found here, but it's not like downloading an app from the Apple store. This is a troubleshooter's delight, and almost everyone is running a slightly different combination of hardware. RetroPie gathers a lot of things together into one nice package, but it doesn't preclude the need to understand how it works.

@obsidianspider
Again I have read and watched the videos and like I said I read where u take neogeo. Zip put it in bios OK where do I find neogeo. Zip I am not a computer guy by far I had to have help from a friend just to get as far as I have nowAnd therein might lie a piece of your problem. Do you know what you have done, exactly, with the help of your friend?
If you do, please tell us*, because we need that info to be even able to help you.
If you do not, how do you expect us to help you?At this point, this question is akin to someone calling a garage and telling them the car won't start, can they please tell him how to fix it?
As an alternative, you start over, read the manuals, and follow the steps. That's what they are there for.
*: and with tell us, I mean every little detail, as even the things that might seem inconsequential to you, might make a big difference.

I read where u need to download a neogeo. Zip file that I can't find
Without it, games will not launch as you have found out. But if you had read my link, you would have known this is needed.
where do I find neogeo. Zip
You must read the forum rules before you continue asking further questions as this is a breach of the rules. For legal reasons, you must not ask for links to roms. You agreed to read these pages when you signed up. I am still wondering what your question is from the title of your post!

@rbaker I put the neogeo games I downloaded in the neogeo folder on my phone stick that goes into the retropie then once it's done loading I put I go to neogeo click on the game the game goes to a screen if sometimes shows a yellow loading bar first for a minute and then goes to a black screen and then goes to back to the game list I have left the games that I have read and watch videos where they say take your neogeozip file put it in BIOS okay I've seen the file folder but I don't know how to get the BIOS and do I need a bio for each and every game or is there one bio that will run majority of the games if it's too much trouble forget this whole conversation I have read everything that I possibly can I understand it is a learning computer but there comes to a point where you ask for help if there's anything I missed in this paragraph let me know and I'll try to answer that one as well again I am sorry for asking 20001 time

@Corykrist1 I think you should Google neogeo.zip. And, whilst you're on Google, search for how to use punctuation. Your posts hurt me.

@caver01
I guess I should ask where do I find d bios for the neogeo roms I downloaded so I can put it in the bio folder... I'm hoping I asked the right question -
@Corykrist1 I don't know how to write Google again...

Are you for real? You say you read but clearly you tell lies. In my last post I already pointed out very clearly "You must read the forum rules before you continue asking further questions as this is a breach of the rules. For legal reasons, you must not ask for links to roms. You agreed to read these pages when you signed up." and now 30 mins after I tell you this, you ask where the neogeo bios can be obtained again?!??? Yes again.... and then follow it up with
I'm hoping I asked the right question
SO there is proof that you do not read the rules and my previous posts
if it's too much trouble forget this whole conversation
You are probably right to suggest this because you do not do what you are advised to do. Fact. converstion forgotten. What was you question again?

@rbaker I think it was something about neo geo, though the lack of commas and or full stops made my eyes melt inwards.

Iirc, the loading bar means you are using pifba.
You have to put both neogeo.zip and roms in the neogeo folder.
To get roms, google is your friend.
You'll probably get many bad roms (resulting in your black screen for 20s before going back to list) because pifba is an old emulator which use old rom dumps (clrmamepro + retropie's wiki could help you but it seems you don't have the needed skills...).
I hope you built a handheld or something with your pi0, because if you didn't, you did something really stupid in not buying a pi3 (a pi3 is WAY BETTER than a pi0 : it's a lot faster so you can run recent neogeo emulator with recent roms which are easier to find). -
retropie's wiki could help you but it seems you don't have the needed skills.
Reading and writing skills are enough. By reading I mean understanding what the sentences mean. Not only matching the letters and knowing how they sound. If you read something that you can't understand because you're not familiar with computers, then you should use all your writing skill and ask exactly about the part you didn't understand.

You're using the wrong romset. With MAME/NeoGeo/Arcade it's different compared to other systems. Lets say the roms have a version which is called romset, each emulator supports a version of the roms.
Just take a look at the following page:
https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Managing-ROMs
You see the name of the emulator and which romset (version of the roms) it supports. Now lets say, you can convert them to other versions. You can do this with clrmamepro. The tutorial is right on that page on the link above. There is a video tutorial on the page, just follow along and you'll get it. I know it looks confusing but if you do it its pretty easy and simple.
Oh almost forgot. if you want to play neogeo games you need the NeoGeo bios files. Just use Google for this, we're not allowed to post links containing illegal files. But the first result in Google has the file. Put this file in the rom folder.
So lets say you're going to use the FBA emulator, you need to put the roms inside the FBA Roms folder, in this folder you also need to add the neogeo.zip (bios files). Oh and you never unzip MAME roms. They always need to be in a .ZIP file.
It's not that hard at all. The only thing I hated was the long upload time when I uploaded the entire romset to the Pi lol.
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
