how can we debug?
please, copy and paste the command below on your raspi (it'll create a launching image for
--system nes
):bash -x /opt/retropie/supplementary/launchingimages/generate-launching-images.sh -t carbon --system nes --no-ask 2> ~/launchingimage.log # assuming you have netcat installed nc termbin.com 9999 < ~/launchingimage.log
After the last command you'll probably have a termbin link. Post that link here so I can check what's going wrong.

thanks, I think I've fixed now.
Can you update and try again?
(or remove-reinstall) -
@meleu Ok some progress with this update, the image now seems to be 768x576 which is a closer expect ratio but there are top and bottom black bars still.
Here is the output of that debug command again: https://termbin.com/uppt
Thanks

@Uskompuf alright, now I'm being very faithful to the current aspect ratio of the screen.
can you update and try again?

@meleu Working perfectly now!
Thanks for your amazing work on this project.

Great work on this.
Any idea of when you might be able to support themes with variables and includes? (I assume you'd "process" the theme and spit out XML and use that or something?).

Muchas gracias -
Hello,
I know this thread is older now but wanted to mention that recently I tried out these launching images (awesome!) but for some reason the Tronkyfran theme gives me black bars on the top and bottom. I assume this is an aspect ratio issue? Would love to have this full screen. The launching images for other themes does not give me this issue.
Thanks.

@rager170 What are those images resolution? I made some controller renders for this runcommand launch images a long time ago...

never mind

I noticed an issue when generating images, this happens on all systems I tried so far:
Launching images generation for "supersweet" theme completed!
Failed to create image for the following systems:
amiga: failed to prepare the background image. It seems that carbon and tronkyfran work, all other themes don't. Anything that might be causing it?
One of the themes not working is supersweet, which would be perfect because quite comprehensive. My installation is Retropie 4.7.15 (although I have not updated any of the main/core packages since Nov).

Hello all,
I am on retropie 4.8 and a pi 4.
Can I get some guidance on getting the subject working?
The package is talked about here on the retropie docs:
https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Runcommand/
"Manage packages" >> "Manage experimental packages" >> "launchingimages" >> "Install from binary"
For whatever reason, the images created from this package are not filling up the whole screen even though the retropie menus and all game emulators do. It's like the package is not creating the proper size images and I really don't have a good idea how to fix it. Below is an example of what my run command screen looks like. Thank you all for any guidance you can give on fixing this.
