Pixel Theme
-
@mrjordaaany Oh, yeah, that's not how it's supposed to look. Haha. There are some strange tags in the XML that I don't recall adding so I am going to have to go clean them out. I'm trying to find a way to do it without having to open each file and delete them individually.
-
Ok, Pixel Metadata theme's github is screwed up. When I upload the xml gets corrupted and causes conflicts. Sooooo, do I delete the repo and then re-make it?
Edit: muriani helped me fix it. I was copying over an old .git folder and making the site freak out.
Try updating and see if metadata re-appears
-
@rookervik Sure does. All the meta data is back :) It's the new system layout too. However in game lists the little grey box that shows which game you have selected currently is missing.
Not sure if that was meant to be a feature of this theme like the pixel theme.
Cheers!
-
@mrjordaaany Grey box... I don't recall a grey box. Each system had it's own colored selection-bar. Unless you're comparing it to the new pixel update where the selection-bar has a little grey box next to it?
If so, I had to remove the little grey box because I was asked to make the text smaller (like it used to be) and the grey box looked ridiculous next to all the small text.
-
@rookervik Yup I was referring to that, and yup all good then. Was just wondering. Thanks for the great updates to your theme man :)
-
@Rookervik
I noticed that in the pixel-metadata retropie and ports menus had the metadata sections added (they weren't there in the previous versions) so I changed them back using some old versions of pixel-metadata with the following code: https://pastebin.com/cfpNQeGVThanks
-
@madmodder123 Ah, good catch. I'll try to fix that as soon as I can. Probably Saturday. I work today on Black Friday.
-
@Rookervik noticed on some systems when the snaps launch the video playback screen is just a bit smaller then the box art, the left and right edges you can see the box art. Happens with N64 and SNES.
-
@retronesguy That depends on the aspect of your videos. NES and SNES are not square-pixel systems so the signal was stretched on the TV. So having same-size screenshots and videos will depend on what you've downloaded. The screenshots and videos are set to display at whatever aspect they're saved as.
But I thought the screenshots were supposed to disappear when the videos played. So I'll check it out.
Heh, I loaded up SNES and all my videos (3) are a tad bit bigger than the screenshots. So I can't tell if the screenshot shows or not. :D
-
@rookervik I'll try to get a screenshot when I get a chance. But on my end it looks like the box art remains on the screen and then the video is played over it. Wonder is anyone else is having this issue, or is it just me :)
Video and box art are coming from Steven Selph's scraper.
-
@retronesguy I've checked the EmulationStation documentation "THEMES.md" on Videos and I can't find any code that would make art disappear when a video plays. Has it been implemented?
I can force a size for the images and videos... but that would render the videos to a certain size no matter what aspect they are in. So it could screw up other peoples' setups.
-
@rookervik I'm fine with how it is, no need to go to all the trouble especially if I'm the only one with the issue. It's no big deal to me. Thanks
-
@retronesguy I can only guess that I used to have the videos set to a certain size. There was originally no maxSize tag for videos when they were first implemented. So you had to force an aspect and I'm sure I set snes and nes to 4:3.
If there is no way to get screenshots/boxart to disappear when a video plays, that needs to be addressed. Maybe I can get @Tomaz to check it out.
-
@rookervik The video element itself handles displaying the image and then switching to the video. I believe the problem is that you are setting the size/position of
md_image
for video view. You can see how it is handled in carbon here.md_image
is only specified for detailed view not video view. -
@jdrassa HO HO!!! Nice! Let me go edit that! Thank you for the heads up.
-
Thanks for sharing! Any new update as 2017 Christmas gift? :D :D
-
Updated the Pixel Metadata repo with fixes for "box art behind videos" and "too much metadata on Retropie screen". Give yours an update and tell me if it all works.
As far as gifts... I should set up a donation page. LOL.
-
@rookervik Will update later tonight and give feedback. Thanks
-
@rookervik The "ports" section still has metadata, I don't know if the majority of people prefer it like that? It is fine if you want to leave it, it is pretty easy for me to edit it out :)
Anyways I think you should set up a donation page, i'm sure people would be glad to donate for all your hard work :)
-
@madmodder123
Yeah I left metadata on the ports section since I think I only have one port that isn't a game. You no likey? Can just copy the retropie theme.xml over to ports to fix it. If others don't like having metadata on the metadata theme I can remove it. :P
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
