I put a RetroPie inside an R2D2, using the PowerBlock to turn it on and off, and an onboard Adafruit sound board for his bleeps and bloops. Turned out really well, I think.

If you're interested in how I did it, here's the link.

@wanderingme That's really cool. Well done. I'd love to do something interesting like this, but I lack the skills, hardware, tools, time and funds.

@mattrixk I had no idea how to do any of this, but just jumped in. It's challenging for sure, but luckily I just looked at this as a hobby to take up my evenings and Sunday afternoons when I wasn't with the wife. What I didn't know, I just googled.

@wanderingme I remember having free time. It all seems so long ago now...

Now you just need a couple of r2d2 controllers
Oh look I found some. https://www.amazon.com/Disney-Star-Wars-Wired-Controller-XBOX360/dp/B011DFA49M/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1487225550&sr=8-2&keywords=R2d2+controller
They're wired, but who cares if it goes with the theme. Nice job

@lostless Actually, no, I don't think they will.

@Fruitybit Do it! Hopefully you can learn from the abundant number of mistakes I made.

@wanderingme raspberry pi's are awesome. However for so many of us it is never ending. Always more roms, more emulators, more customizing themes, more hardware mods. Hope you enjoy doing this. Its as fun as playing them. if i can make some suggestions to help you if you did another one, you should use a bi-metal hacksaw instead of a dremel to do something like cutting r2d2's head off. It would be cleaner. I use my dremels all the time but i wouldnt use them for the holes used for usb ports and hdmi, etc. Drill a bunch of holes to get rid of most of the inside of your holes. Then get a set of mini files (really cheap on ebay or at a store called harbor freight) to file the edges of your holes to get them filed down to size and smooth.

@edmaul69 Exceptional tips! Thank you. Yeah, I'm not a master of the dremel, as you can see. It was a learning process. And, you're right, there's loads more I want to do with this thing!
