@FlyingTomahawk I did see the handhelds. Roughly what were they selling for? The Neo Geo Pocket stuff was never really available over here. Of course, I still have two handhelds that I'm not done with.

I actually just saw a Famicom for sale including shipping for $30 on eBay but I passed on it because I don't know where the heck I would put it once I was done with it. I don't really need two RetroPies hooked up to my TV and my desk Genesis USB hub Pi is nice and small.

But so many cool retro systems…

      Argh!

@FlyingTomahawk You're an instigator, that's what you are.

Did you see any actual games?

I'm also always on the lookout for real (not reproduction) game-related art and stuff. I recently learned about the Famicom Disk System handbills that were included and are awesome, but usually are pretty expensive.

I'd love to find some Japanese-language Mario or Zelda ads to frame, but I don't speak Japanese and my googling doesn't turn up much.

@FlyingTomahawk Its odd, as much as I like emulation for ease, sometimes it feels empty, I want them old fashioned load times.

It's why i dug out my old original Playstation, kept seeing games in chatiy shops for £1, and bulk sales on eBay, so went mad when 'between jobs' for 18 months, (I had a payout that meant I was in no rush) ended up getting about 200 PS games in 6 months, 4 Playstations (from bundles, one dead one, I changed to a clock :D ).

SImilar to my Amiga 1200, giving that a new lease of life.

Osaka...oohhh, I stopped there, once, about 8 hours in the airport en route to Australia.

I'm currently googling to try and find a replacement front port cover, just in case it doesn't have one.

                  Hehehe... sorry about it. ;-)
I am trying to find more junk Famicoms here which are good for Pi projects. I am willing to part from those later.
                  edmaul69 was the first though...
                  I'll keep you all posted...

Now that work is done and I'm back to looking around at used video game stuff I don't need I went back to looking at those photos from @FlyingTomahawk's trip to heaven, er, used video game place. What does "Hard Off" mean? Is that some Japanese term for "Sale" or something?

Nope, that's the store name "Hard off", "Book off", "House off" and "Hobby off" are a chain store. "Hard off" sells the junk stuff, they are the only ones that do that as far I know, and any kind of used hardware. You find those stores all over Japan.

Those Game Joy handhelds look awesome. I wonder how comfortable they are to hold. On eBay they are selling for around $120 for a working one IF you can find one.

                            Wow, 120?!
Well those are junk, meaning they probably won't run. But swap display, insert Li-po battery and a Pi Zero and you're good to go.

@FlyingTomahawk oh man, now I need to be on the lookout for one. It's like a Supaboy so it has room for a real cartridge in it so TONS of room to work with.

                                Controllers arrived today!
From the looks of it they'll fit the Famicom body.
I cannot test it at the moment since both Famicom are taking their bleach bath.
Put them in yesterday at 12:20pm and today 24hours later I cannot see really a huge difference, yet. I will keep them in there for a few more days and see.

@FlyingTomahawk so how does the Pi keep track of which player is 1 or 2? I've not messed with Bluetooth yet.

My wired in controllers are will be pushing just what fits inside a Famicom, shortest of wires, but my god, its a squeeze, Ethernet, Power, HDMI, USB hub, plus the Pi with bluetooth adapter, USB stick and WiFi dongle...hoping my Mausberry will fit when it arrives.

Be easy if it wasn't for the moulded grooves in the bottom of the thing, I have cut a lot out of the top of the case that won't be missed or seen.
