Another white GBA
not so rare after allSome more looking on eBay tonight is showing clean, working ones going for $40+, geeze.
Have your coworkers started questioning your visiting myriad game stores every day on your lunch break yet?
-
lol, the co-worker is THE Hard-off and used stuff store expert. He is the one that drives me around. I'm just joining him. ;-)
He is into tablets and phones and he collects Saint Seiya figures.I won't be going to any stores for the next couple of days though. Visiting the stores in such short cicles doesn't bring much you need to go once a month to see different items.

Giving us time to think up more cool stuff for you to find? I see ;)
-
Yeah, something like that. :-)
The list currently looks like this,
obsidianspider
Grey Game Boy Pocket (mint condition)
White Game Boy Advance (currently on hold)
Famicom max $10-20 (as good as possible condition)
Famicom undesirable gamesedmaul69
Famicom (as good as possible condition)
My Famicom controllers
Super Game Boy controllerDid I get it right?
-
@FlyingTomahawk looks right to me. Thank you. Light scratching is ok on the super gameboy super famicom controller. Not really a super huge deal if you can find one or not. I can buy one off ebay as they are on there all the time.
-
@FlyingTomahawk Quite the businessman. We'll have to find a way to exchange private contact info. The forum isn't good for stuff like that.
Regarding the GBA:
Now that I'm doing more looking on eBay I see that I should have told you to get the white GBA that you saw yesterday. After seeing how much working ones here in good shape are selling for I'm not so sure I'll be able to find one anywhere near what the shops there have them going for.
If you see another one that works in very good shape for 1700Yen or less, please pick it up for me. (battery cover intact, stickers not all mangled, but screen can have some scratches, they reproduce the screen covers). If you see one that has a really nice shell, but is electronically dead, I'd say use your judgment on price. I could always swap out the guts, but the case is the rarity.
Regarding the Famicom undesirable games: It can really be any game, I'll be swapping out the front sticker like I did with my Super Famicom build. I'd like two that are yellow plastic like Mario 3, but the front label will be changed out. The back label in good shape would be preferred. I'd like two just in case I mess one of them up ;)
If you're willing to add to the list:
What do Mario games usually sell for? I know you said they were collectors items, but I wasn't expecting something for 50Yen either. -

@obsidianspider yeah. I have been forced to pay that much for a few of the pc engine controllers i have bought. :(
-

@FlyingTomahawk if/when you find a Famicom and/or other stuff to send to me I'd like you to grab a few of those. I really like the screen on my Super Famicom Pi, and I haven't seen anyone else do that yet, so I'd probably replicate it and maybe improve on it for a Famicom build.
Ugh, I'm so jealous of the abundance of retro game shops near you. By me there's ONE, and their inventory is really small.
One, that's all I have near me, and as they are asking something like £80 for a Sega MegaDrive, it's not even worth a visit.
-
Is this what you were looking for?
-
@FlyingTomahawk yes it is. :)
-
You see the price right? 1980Yen ($17-18)
I think that's the price range you can expect for this controller.
This one is untested. Meaning they don't know if it works or not. They have a return policy which allows you to return items within 1 week if they are faulty.
That would be not possible if I would buy it and send it to you.
If you want that one I can go again at a later time and see if they still have it.
Also keep in mind that you gonna get a Famicom + additional controller set and adding that Game Boy controller is gonna raise the shipping weight.
Just to be cautious I would suggest to add around $30 for shipping in your calculation.Just tell me if you need that or if you skip.
-
Based on what I've seen on eBay that seems like a great price. Aside from it being shorted out, what could really be that wrong with it?
-
Not sure what could be wrong with it but if edmaul69 says he wants it I would of course ask the staff there to take it out so that I can check the buttons and also if it has scratches or not.
-
@FlyingTomahawk yeah that is a good price. Combining with shipping from other items makes it a good deal. Again, i am not in a hurry.
-
What was the verdict on the Super Gameboy controller?
-
Is that question directed to me or edmaul69?
Got the Famicoms today. I thought I gonna shift the bleach talk also into this topic to keep the Famicom build thread light(er).
Voila here they are.
I'll leave the other in the bleach tub till weekend then swap with the most yellow one of the four.
I'll bleach one by one. I would love to keep the current one a bit longer inside there, some guys say that you can get it really white in 20-25 days. Which I have not reached yet. (1 week only)And here something else from my private collection which I hold very dear. My wife started to collect them but stopped half way through and I completed it.
The "original" Famicom Mini collection.
-
@FlyingTomahawk I thought @edmaul69 wanted you to get that controller, so I wondered if you had a look at it to see its condition.
Very nice collectionof those GBA games. I didn't know they had books to keep them in.
The second from the top Famicom looks pretty white already. Maybe it's just the flash?
-
It's the flash.
It is whiter then the others but still a bit dirty and yellowish.
I didn't get a 100% clear "yes" answer from edmaul69 regarding that controller so I didn't go check yet.
I don't want to force anything or make pressure. I can sure find the controller again sooner or later so if he doesn't need it right now that's OK with me. -
Preping the next Famicom for its bleach bath.
This time I want to do it right 100% all the way.
For that I carefully removed the transparent labels, the front label and even the rear label.
Now I'll go take out the other one out of its bath, wash it and check the condition.
I think there is a slight damage to the red front panel and rear panel from the first bleach bath where I used stronger bleach.
I'll post before after pics asap.
