Yeah, the switch is my final piece (well, Roms are a never ending job, but I'm making a very very short lead to plug inside so I can sit the USB stick just inside the cartridge slot), with that bit of board, and working out how to get the reset button on the pins as an 'Escape' key which I just thought about, I can finally get it all in the case, and put the screws back in.

@MadRikXIV
Did you take pics of your painted Famicom already? -
@FlyingTomahawk I haven't taken them yet, shall try and find time tonight, got a fair few build pics and updates as it's nearly complete.
Slacking as I can't just email the lot from my phone to myself as they are large, and not got round to bluetooth, drop box, or cropping them to myself.
Will say, the Matt White Plastikote did a good job with 3 light coats.
-
Here's a couple of pics of my spray painted Fami, i shall clean the slight bleed on the front label with a blade, will look great with Tomahawks stickers on it.
-
That looks very good!
-
@MadRikXIV VERY well done. Any tips for painting the plastic? I always worry about adhesion, or that it will be tacky/retain finger prints when you touch it. Spray paint tends to be "soft".

I use PlastiKote, discovered it when I was painting a toy chainsaw for an Evil Costume, suitable for wood, metal, plastic, stone, wicker and crafts.
I find once dry its very durable, my toy chainsaw has survived a few nights out as 'Ash'.
I use the standard paint they sell, it's suitable for plastics, the the usual guidelines, several light coats, usually 3 is enough, sprayed from around 20cm, then leave it, dont be tempted to touch an area till dry.
I find it's a lot finer than other paints when sprayed.
Unlike car paint, there isn't that kinda shiny smooth dig a nail into it and peel it shell when it dries.
I dare say it's available as other brands as well.
-
@MadRikXIV I'll give it a try. I've seen that brand here in the US, and I've been looking for a good paint to use on my GBA project that won't cost me what car paint would.
-
@FlyingTomahawk How are things going in the chemistry lab? Did the Famicoms dissolve? ;)
-
@FlyingTomahawk There is some really tantalizing and mouth watering gear in these pics.
-
lol
The one that is currently in there is doing just fine.
I haven't seen any difference since the 5th day but I am patient and will wait another two weeks.
I wanna see the result after 1 month.Weather sucks over here weather forecast says rain for the next 4 days. So another 4 to the past 2 days. Great. :( No bike riding then. Instead I'll work on my theme to get the video stuff done.
-
How did the labels turn out?
I took out the Famicom from its bath yesterday.
The bleach started to become kinda milky and thick. And besides I could not see any further improvement.
Now it is drying and then I'll assemble it back together. So what's up ed? Are you still up for it? You still want one Famicom and extra pair of controllers?
-
@FlyingTomahawk yes i do still want it. I only get paid on the first of every month. Can i pay for it then? Feel free to sell that one and i will get one of the next ones since i cant pay for it until then.
-
No hurry here.
I will assemble it and take some pics and prep the package to get the total weight for shipping calculation.
Do you want the Famicom internals? Or just the outer case? -
@FlyingTomahawk i want the internals. I reuse parts of the board and connectors. Thank you.
-
So here the before/after pic.
It is not perfectly white, still a tiny bit cream white, but man it looks great if you see how it looked before.
I will let it dry off for another 1-2 days and then assemble it and put back the labels. Is that Famicom white enough for you?
-
@FlyingTomahawk that famicom looks perfect to me. No complaints here.

Sorry for the delay, been bit busy with gigs and investigating a 1950s record player uprgrade project...
Stickers look amazing Flying, I will get round to finishing this project at some point, just not had the time to sort the switch out.
-
Hey! Looking great!
Glad they arrived in good condition.
Anything else is, let me know. -
@FlyingTomahawk any excursions to Hard Off recently? With the warm weather I'm starting to see more yard sales popping up, but sadly, no retro game finds just yet.
