Just a small update on the MD Scart cable situation. Got my adapter Scart->RGB21 delivered this week and here is what it looks like now. (Video sound is a bit loud so adjust your volume please.)
The image quality is not perfect yet. Some flickering stripes (visible in SEGA intro in video above) and jail bars are visible depending on the game. I did order a so called Packapunch RGB Scart cable from Retro Gaming Cables in the UK and if all goes well it should clear up most of the image.
There is a humming sound that bothers me a bit, listen at 9s in video above, but you can only hear it in quiet game scenes. The BGM usually covers it up well but I know it is there and it bugs me. Maybe a new PSU is necessary to clear that humming sound? I read that people say the interference comes from the PSU.Also got these two delivered this week.

I just picked up a xbox game, beyond good and evil. Instructions included and the disc is in great shape. Excited to play and will try to post a picture of the game and my system case modded

Guys! I got a new Raspberry Pi! I can finally boot up RetroPie again! I think an old version is on here, and it's been a while since I've messed around, so I'll see what i've got.
Also, can anyone recommend me some good flash carts for the SNES? The ones that are popular are pretty expensive, and i'm not too sure if I can spare that much money. -
@itskryode I use Everdrives for my loader carts. Totally worth the money.

Hi ruckage
Don't mean to pressure you or anything like it. Just wanted to check in and see how the label situation looks like.

@FlyingTomahawk
Hi, sorry for the delay. I lost track of time as I've had a busy few weeks. I have cleaned up all the artwork and recreated the label so I'm just waiting for some varnish now to laminate it. I'd usually use packing tape but megadrive labels are a little too big for that, I tried laminate film but it resulted in too much silvering imo so my final test was a spray varnish and that worked pretty well but I only had a little left in the can so I've ordered some more which should be here in the next couple of days.If you have access to a printer I have a label outline template that I'd like to send you later to print and cut-out just to double check the size of the labels and that the position of the game title is correct.

Thanks @ruckage
Man you sure go out of your way to get things done properly. Thank you.
My offer to cover the cost still stands.Yeah, I got a printer. Just send me the file and I print it out and check. You still got my e-mail address right?

Im being very retro at work.

@Dipkid This is very cool! Did you buy the TV, keyboard, and controller in this colour scheme or did you modify them yourself?
-
@Clyde thank you! I painted all the parts, (minus the key caps, they are from the Internets.)
I have a old buried thread w more pics of the build on here somewhere. -
@Dipkid I love the Hulk Hogan floppy disk, by the way. :)
-
@Clyde actually just a sticker I made from an illustration I did, and luckily it fitted perfectly. Here's the money shot of the rig:
-
@Dipkid I'm officially flabberghasted, sir! 😮

I went ahead an ordered the NEW BittBoy and it arrived today. I gotta say, it’s not all bad. Just a few gripes with it, one being no rom artwork and the other only being three emulators supported. But other than that, its a rad little guy. And it looks great with the originals.

Pick-ups have been slow because games that I'm after seem to be getting more expensive, but I did receive some mail from Japan today.
ミスタードリラー2 (Mr. Driller 2)
Now if only I could find the US versions of Mr. Driller games for not crazy prices to go along with their Japanese counterparts.

I think the fun in game hunting is to get the desired game for the best, in most cases as cheap as possible, price.
If you would have the cash you could just buy all games out there and be done with it within few days but that's not fun.
To get an expensiv(er) game for a very decent price is a very nice achievement and therefore the joy is greater.
The downside of it is it takes time, lot more time. -
@FlyingTomahawk I guess that's true. It can be frustrating when you see someone say "I got this game for $3 from an old lady at an estate sale" and then you see it selling for $700 online. With EverDrives I can play pretty much anything, so I'll just keep my eyes open.
-
I've been thinking about getting some of the old FDS handbills/flyers to frame. @FlyingTomahawk are they commonly reproduced or are the ones I'm seeing on eBay likely legit? Of anyone on this site I figured you may have actually seen some in person.

Last month I picked up an NES Advantage for cheap that was yellowed and nasty. Gave it a good clean and decided to retr0bright it up. After several applications it did brighten up the plastic but, in turn left streaky marks all over it. I did some reasearch and after watching an 8bit Guy restore video, I then tried the submerging in liquid peroxide method. 9 hours of underwater bathing in the sun and it really helped. It may not be perfect and some streaks just won’t come out, however its a hellova lot better than how it was when I first got it.
-
@celly I think I saw the same video from "The 8bit Guy" where he tested several methods to brighten battered old cases. Although I don't do anything he does with old hardware, he is one of my favorite evening diversions. :)
