Yeah, i know what you mean. I think i get the hang of it but it's a steep learning curve.

I use DesignSpark PCB which helps a lot. Looking at other PCB projects and try to understand the way they're build up.

@FlyingTomahawk right now I’m just doing simple stuff, essentially replacing hooking up a spaghetti mess of wires. I haven’t even begun to dive into things like interference or trace width or things like that. I don’t even know what I don’t know yet.

I've been lucky to make some cool friends through this retro gaming hobby and one of them is my good buddy Dan in California. Today a box of miscellaneous cool stuff arrived from him.

The Game Boy Pocket is in really nice shape and even has the box, which is nice to have.

The MasterSystem controller is something he picked up after he heard me complaining while playing Shanghai a few weeks ago that my existing controller is getting a bit wonky and may need the cable replaced. It still has the clear plastic film on the faceplate!

I don't have a PS3, but apparently this Duke Nukem game is terrible. (His words) I'll have to try it out some time.

Did you know that they made Wii U headphones? I didn't either.

Yes, Duke Nukem Forever was indeed awful. It should have remained vaporware, it got a lifetime achievement award for that...

Nice haul. I still have my Gameboy pocket from years ago though mine is the transparent shell - no box though unfortunately as at the time it never occurred to me to keep it, I imagine finding one with a box now is quite unusual. I just tried mine as I felt a bit nostalgic and it still works well but we've definitely been spoiled by modern displays as I'd forgotten about the motion blur - and the screen on the pocket was a big improvement over the original gameboy :).

I also have Duke Nukem forever for PS3 but I've never played it, I'll have to try it one day to see if it really is that bad.

Went to Nipponbashi (Den Den Town) today to visit Super Potato and A-Too stores.
I was so shocked to see how damn expensive Wonderswan stuff is. This is for you @obsidianspider

My Famicom collection is getting bigger too. Grabbing any good deal I can find here.
Mostly shoot em ups and a few other classics. Thus far 30 games and counting...
I do have a hard time finding Famicom Disc System games which are in good shape and decent priced.

Currently also working on a custom PCB for the Famicom that replaces the whole rear piece which will have a microUSB-B 5V power plug and 4 din 3.5mm jack for video and audio.

@FlyingTomahawk Yeah, I've heard that Super Potato is very much for tourists and is usually overly expensive. I'd still like to go to one some day.

The only other options I know of are Yahoo Auctions (via an intermediary service), Hard Off/Book Off, or independent game stores.

overly expensive is an understatement. they are insane. that is also a reason why they have so many games and hardware in stock. nobody buys that stuff for those prices. Still it's nice to look at. So much stuff cramped into such narrow space.

I got your list. Give me some time to go through it and search a bit around.
Of course Yahoo Auction is one place but there you'll have a hard time to find games for the price you want since you get mostly outbid. Mercari Japan is the place where I look for stuff online at the moment. Sometimes you find really good stuff in great condition for very good prices. And all is buy now and no auction shit.

You can get lucky at Hard-Off/Book-Off stores but it is time consuming since you have to visit the stores.

Just had a quick look at the upper part of the list. Some of your prices are low some are a bit high. For example Monster World 4 for Mega Drive is around 10'000-12'000 Yen not 5000 Yen. For 5000 I would get one myself ;-)

If you want I could translate the titles for you to Japanese so you can copy and paste them into whatever you use to search.

I have been sticking with eBay because I don't know how those intermediary services work.

@FlyingTomahawk @obsidianspider have the prices skyrocketed the last couple of years? I was there probably between 7-9 years ago and I thought the prices were ok. they were almost giving away console bundles, had them in big crates, same with mystery random game loot. (I live in Norway though, and the Norwegian krone was strong as hell back then..) the shops amazing btw, like a museum!
