Is there a way to keep RetroPie up-to-date automatically / periodically. Perhaps there are command line args for running retropie_setup.sh and automatically executing 'Update all installed packages'?

@noelmasson Only the sadistic masochist people would use such a feature. :)

@meleu Perhaps not automatic, but a single command instead of using the setup script menu? I've built a Retropie console for my son and removed the Retropie menu to prevent him from making a mess of things. Surely there is a way??

              The command you want is:

              sudo ~/RetroPie-Setup/retropie_packages.sh setup update_packages_gui

But pay attention at what is said in the docs about updating RetroPie: Before making any major updates it is important to make backups

In the same page you can see some backup options.

You removed retropiemenu but you still have access to retropie_setup.sh script from command line, right? You can launch retropie setup from command line and then update it as usual.

@meleu Perfect, many thanks for this! Exactly what I was looking for. I always take routine backups.
