Post here if you can't remember the name of a game!

@xwons This sounds like an Apple game I used to play, but I can't remember the name either. Did you have to stop and kill underwater gates for your sub to proceed too? Was there an oxygen gauge that you had to fight your way to the top to fill up before you ran out?

@xwons Was that Sub Hunter?
I don't know... It could be, but I remember it a bit different. I'll try it later.

The Sub Hunter game that @ClassicGMR mentioned has an oxygen gauge. But I am still not sure if that was the game.

Ok, no, it definitely wasn't Sub Hunter. Any other suggestions?

There was a game that I once played on the Apple IIe in school, and you had a certain number of batteries in your inventory that you had to connect correctly throughout the level with correct polarity and the voltages had to add up correctly. I think the character might have had an oxygen limit too, as the I think game was set underground. It's been so long since I've even seen or heard of the game, but I have fond memories of playing it on the old green and black display.
-
@Kookamunga That sounds like a game The Learning Company would make, something similar to Rocky's Boots or Robot Odyssey.
-
@xwons Sea Dragon?

@xwons Sea Dragon?
Mmm, no. Similar in style, but it's not the one I'm looking for. And I couldn't find an Amstrad version.
-
@xwons My periwinkle belt in Google-Fu is coming up with Oceana for the Amstrad. Doesn't quite look like the Apple game I remember (Sea Dragon wasn't it for that one either...)

Sorry, but I don't think that's it. The one I remember had several levels which ended figthing a boss. I remember one of them being some kind of sea serpent or eel in which you had to shoot its head.
-
@xwons Now that DOES sound like Sea Dragon.

This might be a long shot, but there was an old DOS game I played from the '90s, I think it was shareware, from SSI that was a spacecraft shooter. If I recall correctly, it was kind of like an overhead view evolution of asteroids.
Anyone know what I'm talking about?
-
@ParadoxGBB Here's a list of SSI games (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Strategic_Simulations_games), but are you sure you're not talking about Masters of Orion ?
-
@gamesfan Nope, this game you actually moved a character around onscreen. Thanks though!
-
@VictimRLSH Found the game! It's MECC - Electrifying Adventures
Once you mentioned it sounded like it was from the Learning Company, that inspired me to look up educational Apple IIe games.
Thanks for the help! -
@ParadoxGBB Renegade Legion Interceptor? Played that to death both on Amiga and tabletop too.
-
@mitu @VictimRLSH , yeah, I looked up that Wikipedia article and I didn't see it. What I saw was an arcade game, not a strategy game. Maybe I have the shipping game company wrong... the ship you shot from was shaped like a horseshoe and I think you got upgrades.
In any case, like I said, long shot. Thanks anyway, though!

Trying to remember the name of a vertical shooter that was a vector game and controlled with a dial. You flew a formation of ships, and started with like 20+ ships. As ships in your formation got destroyed, you could add ships from your supply to your formation until you ran out and your remaining ships in formation were destroyed.

Is there a game like this on/for MAME emulator?
Played years ago on ZX spectrum. Names on Spectrum are: bomber, city bomber , ...
But for Mame I can't find this kind of simple game (straight flying, and simply bomb in the right moment .....)![alt text]
