New Comic Book Theme!
-
Just a few small updates:
- I've converted all .WAV to .OGG files and it saves about 20MB of space. I've not tested it on Retropie's ES yet, but it works flawlessly on the Batocera ES port for Windows. My guess is that sounds will not work on Retropie until .OGG is supported.
- I have successfully added a slide sound to the theme so that every time you scroll through your systems/collections it will make an audible "paper page turn" sound.
- I have also came up with the idea for each custom collection theme to have its own unique scroll sound. Like for Kingdom Hearts collection, when you scroll through the collection gamelist it will will play the Kingdom Hearts menu scroll sound as to the current default "tick" noise it currently has.
-
Small update:
I pushed the five themes listed above to the main branch.
- Shantae
- Indie Games
- Double Dragon
- Devil May Cry
- F-Zero
-
Also I got bored so I created a theme for the Philips CD-i:

I'm blown away by the creativity here. Especially with @Zenjiro and @holy2tack so recently. If I could be so bold as to request more system art, I'm putting together a holiday gift for my nephews and I really want a couple more systems to put it over the top! :)
RPGs
(Inspiration: FF, Chrono, Secret of Mana, Zelda, Phantasy Star, etc)Platformers
(Inspiration: Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario World, Sonic, etc)Castlevania
(so many good ones!)Shooters
(Inspiration: Goldeneye, Perfect dark, quake, doom, turok)Hope you are all doing well!

@evanmoran Most of what you listed is already available in my fork.
I can make a FPS (First-Person-Shooter) one for you.
-
@zenjiro Oh awesome. What's the github link? I'm having trouble following 1100+ pages of comments :)
-
-
@zenjiro Thank you for this! I've made a few UI tweaks that I'll share as a pull request to give back. Feel free to not include them if you don't think they are universally helpful :)
-
@evanmoran I'm all for additional help and adding new ideas.
-
Added the Russian NES variant Dendy.
-
Created a theme for First-Person Shooters:
Needs a banner logo, and I might redo the system image. Feels like it clashes to much.
Edit: @evanmoran This was the shooter one you were looking for. -
hi Zenjiro.
Any chance you could make a theme for the Sega Model3? aka supermodel3
-
@shaggy1 Sure, it's been on my to-do list for awhile.
-
@zenjiro amazing, thank you so much
-
@zenjiro I'm really digging this. Thank you! You hit on all the best ones: TF2, Quake, Halo. So good!

As somebody who grew up in the East, I'm proud of your resolve to conserve our proud bootleg past.
I didn't even know what Nintendo was until I was 15 (all I knew was Super Mario, and that's it).
All that's missing is putting one of these in the image:

@h2805270 I'm glad you like it. I never knew of the Dendy console until I watched a small documentary made by "Did You Know Gaming - Region Locked"
I also found out that the emulator Mesen has an option to target and emulate the Dendy hardware:
Retroachievements even has some of the games listed with achievements: https://retroachievements.org/game/2225
Typically for each of these themes I try to keep each panel to iconic games for that system or series. I was thinking about adding an image of one of the multi-game cartridges, but I figured I should just find games that make the system standout and shine.
Edit Feb 27th: DYKG just released this video which also seems appropriate
-
I like It also. Great idea to add Dendy !!

@dteam
Here's an idea while I'm feeling creativeWhere is Dendy today?
After Steepler fell apart in 1996, he ended up like most 90's kids from commie countries did.
The parents spoiled him relentlessly, he grew up a complete ill-tempered bully. After losing his college scholarship after getting arrested for taking drugs, he decides to slowly improve his life after fathering a child to the one woman that tried to fix him (it was all for naught).
One messy divorce, years of complaints, a lot of disownments and a financial crisis later, he's now working as a private contractor in construction, drinking himself to sleep with Non-Alcoholic Beer, puffing synthetic Mary with his so-called friends, listening to Viktor Tsoi in his BMW on lonely nights, and wondering where it all went wrong after Steepler...
