What games are you playing this week? 2017-04-03
-
@obsidianspider
It´s a bit funny, but i was playing "Tetris" and "Solitaire" this weekend.
The games are part of Microsofts "Best of Entertainment Pack" for Windows 3.11.
Windows 3.11 runs on Dosbox and is normally used for some old games of that time like "Civilization 2" or the very funny series
"You don´t know Jack". Part one and two of "YDKJ" works fine with Windows 3.11. It took me years to get them on eBay/street-markets.Another funny game i found on very old disks was "Donkey.Bas", which is the first PC game ever created in history.
It was programmed in 1980 by Bill Gates himself, as part of the very first IBM-DOS 1.0 operating system, for showing the possibilities of Basic ;-).Today i want to start with "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade", the graphic adventure from Lucasfilm Games, which is part of an "Best of Lucasarts" Compilation i found years ago, on a street market. That was really a good value for money.... :-)
If you can grab the CD somewhere (published by Funsoft), be sure to get one ;-)
All the classics are included: Monkey Island 1+2, Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle, Zak Mc. Kracken, Loom, Sam & Max and Indy 3+4......
Thanks to ScummVM it works perfectly on the RetroPie..... -
Zelda - Link's Awakening for GameBoy, original grayscale version
Banjo Kazooie for N64. -
@HPK-de I can recommend 7th Guest for ScummVM if you're in to point-and-click.
-
I'm playing mighty bomb jack nes at the moment

I remember that being a good collection of card and puzzle games. I probably still have those floppies somewhere...would be surprised if they still work!
I missed out on the original You Don't Know Jack games for Windows but I eventually played one on the PSX.

Good find! I think I downloaded that from like a BBS once a long time ago. In the town I grew up in, we actually had 2 different BBS's. One was ran by a local computer store and the 2nd one was ran by the Computer Club at the local university. I was in Jr. High/High School at the time those where around.
"Best of Lucasarts" Compilation
That does sound like an awesome compilation!

I had totally forgotten about Zak McKracken! I believe I had the demo of that game but never played the full version. I really enjoyed the demo but I never saw it for sale and quickly forgot about it. I wonder if they have it over at GoG.com?
Update...they do:

You should also try the GameBoy Color version! It has an extra/exclusive color-based dungeon that's not in the original!
Banjo Kazooie for N64.
Have you heard of the new game Yooka-Laylee (the Banjo-Kazooie spiritual successor)? Well Playtonic Games (who is comprised of ex-Rare developers that made Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong 64) is making it and I think it looks very promising!

Zelda - phantom hourglass on DS. Had it a couple of weeks now and almost finished. Will be the first zelda game i ever finish! Lol.
-
I finally got around to trying out Texmaster 2009 (tetris clone)!
Here was my score from my first game:
To install it, I followed @mediamogul's directions from here:

I'm playing Sengoku Ace (on FBA emulator) and Super Star Soldier on PC Engine.
-
I'm really enjoying this week's MAME ROW, Surprise Attack. I've had a lot going on this week, so aside from that I haven't had much time for other games aside from a little Super Mario Bros. (NES) for some testing here and there.
-
'Ninja Baseball Batman' in short bursts as I have time in the evenings. We've had some minor tornadoes here over the past week and I'm spending most of my time dealing with debris and downed trees.
-
@mediamogul
I upvoted about you playing 'Ninja Baseball Batman' and not because of the tornadoes with debris and downed trees! -
@mediamogul are you Pseudoscience on retroachievements.org? I sent a PM to you there.
-
...three second rule.
Ack! I just read it. I'll get one of those apps going today and shoot you a text.

If you don't have any of those and want a suggestion, my suggestion is telegram. ;-)

Final Fantasy I on the GBA. It's such a simple game compared to everything else that came after it, but it's surprisingly relaxing being able to go on quick grinds without having to think about espers, jobs, materia, guardian forces, sphere grids, etc.
-
Thanks for the suggestion. I just signed up to telegram. Is the number you gave me through RA how I reach you there?
-
Started a casual game of The Ur-Quan Masters port the other day. I originally played the Star Control games on PC way back when they 1st came out. My seven year old right beside me on the couch and he was very interested in my game.
-
Volgarr on dreamcast, it's a tough game but so fun. Then probably some multiplayer king of kings on nes.
-
@mediamogul I've sent another PM to you at RA site.
-
@Omnija
Does Volgarr the Viking play well on the RPi?
