GPD XD with retropie
-
want to know if anyone tried to get retropie to work on this device?
-
@subzeroevil just for fun I tried to install debian, and later I would try to install RetroPie only to see what would work. And then I found more interesting stuff to do (such as playing MegaMan X and PS Vita hacking) and gave up.
And to be honest the RetroArch runs pretty good on the GPD XD, even N64 cores run smoothly. Then installing RetroPie on it would be more a "because can" thing than getting any benefit.

I've been looking to get the GPD XD, but haven't had the chance. How is the performance of PSX games?

I talked about this device when I bought it: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/post/72857
I really love the GPD XD everything runs pretty smoothly. N64, Dreamcast, no lag at all. The size is perfect for my needs. BUUUT after 2-3 months of intense gaming the buttons and the d-pad became fragile. :(
I was playing GB and GBA games very frequently. GB: Donkey Kong, Kid Dracula, Felix the Cat, Operation C; GBA: Metroid Zero Mission, Final Fight One, Zelda Minish Cap, Contra Advance, Doom, to name a few... I think the the plastic case and the rubber below the buttons are very cheap and are losting the tactile feedback. I'm a bit disappointed... :(

@meleu I have had one of these for about a year and a half and mine is still in very good condition. Maybe it depended on who you bought it from. The only thing wrong with it is the creaking sound when you open the lid (which was a problem for all GPD XD's day one).
It's the perfect emulation device (the Nvidia Shield Portable was far too big). PSX using ePSXe has nearly 100% perfect emulation for the whole library of games (it's better than the PC version). The only thing missing from this device is a decent frontend. Gamesome is usable but average so I would love a port of EmulationStation/RetroPie.
