240p Honey (Theme optimized for CRTs)
-
@pietze well done! I think you should certainly share it if you're up for it. It looks great on a 240p display!
-
Are there other tweaks involved, or just a stock setup using this theme to improve the legibility of things on a smaller screen / CRT?
-
Sweet b&o crt. Not much more than you can ask for in a crt theme , accept Tate but that's seems to be a ES hurdle. super cool

Hi everyone,
thanks for your comments! Well, I can share my theme but it's not complete yet, since I only made artworks for the platforms I need. And I have to say that I took the console logos from the Art Book Theme (https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/11728/theme-art-book). Not asked for permission yet, because I thought would make this theme just for me.
As soon/ if I get a go I will share the links again.
However, I made two color schemes:

@ohmycommodore don't worry, it's just stock setup! But since It's supporting the brand new "all games", "latest games" it's recommended (but not needed) to use the latest Retropie :)

Yeah i know there was the alternative 240p binary thing a while ago, which i didn't quite figure out, or at least didn't see a major difference from. Plugged into my old commodore monitor with a stock setup... the games looked just fine to me though, but the menu text was hard to read. So a simple "big" theme like this will be valuable for me, as I swap between a big HDMI tv and my little commodore monitor fairly often. Too much work to swap all sorts of things around. A quick theme switch to something like this will likely take care of the biggest issue for me.

well, if you've now given links perhaps you should take them down before you have permission?
-
@dankcushions alright, I'll write the author. Shouldn't be a problem though, because it's just console logos. I guess I'll find them on Wikipedia aa well.
-
@pietze it's @alphatoanant . I think these are for the most part grey scale version of carbon's logos, but yeah definitely reach out. :)
-
Everyone enjoy the new downloads (in the first post)! @alphatoanant was so nice to allow the sharing of the theme.

I updated to version 3! Custom collections were added and two systems: Sega CD & Neo Geo.

I'm super into these. Any chance of getting them integrated in the setup script?

Thanks! :)
That would be great, but I would like to finish it first. There are still some more devices and I wanted to clean the files up a little more.I uploaded everything on GitHub now:

Sorry to bring up an old thread... I am curious tho... Is this theme able to run on a 240p TV via composite or is it only useable with the Pi2* devices?
I am not quite sure if it's possible or even how to install the theme to attempt it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
-
@morpie Hi there, composite is also fine for this theme. If you want to install the theme, just copy the files into the /home/pi/.emulationstation/themes/ folder and restart Emulation Station.
btw you can download the theme here:

@Pietze Hi Pietze, your theme is wonderful and work fine with my crt at 240p. I try to set "video view" not "detailed view" and the theme don't work well. Can you support the "video view"? I would be very grateful! Sorry for my English! XD
-
@Pietze I'm not able to see the game art on the game lists (I've downloaded the NES pack and placed it on ~/.emulationstation/downloaded_images/nes/, is that enough?)
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
