RetroPie script fails on Ubuntu
-
Hi,
I'm trying to build RetroPie on Ubuntu x64 machine but setup fails with an advice that EmulationStation isn't found. The max value reached by RAM is 62%, the log ends without an error. I don't understand what is the problem. Any idea?Regards
-
Working to see if I can reproduce and get a full log. Will post back in a bit.
-
Yeah I reproduced it.
This is where I think it goes wrong for me.
git clone --recursive --depth 1 --branch release-2.0.5 "https://github.com/RetroPie/SDL-mirror.git" "/home/jeremiah/RetroPie-Setup/tmp/build/sdl2/2.0.5+5"

Are you in the source code tree?
(You could use --create if you wish to create this file.)

@charononus you have a networking/internet connectivity issue

The big question is if this was Ionic's issue as well. Does this match up with your error logs Ionic? This was just a computer I could throw it on to for a test real quick. If this is the same error I'll investigate what's going on with it more to see if we're having the same problem.
-
@charononus I hadn't realised you were not the original poster. You should generally start a new topic when reporting issues, to avoid confusion (And your issue may well not be the same - RetroPie on a PC has no control over your internet connection for example).

Yeah it was me trying to see if I could reproduce it. I've actually got it fixed on my end already. It was seeing if he was having the same issue. Mine was an amd64 machine as well which is why I tried it.

@charononus The OP will need to post a log - it's not really possible to guess that the problem might be. Could be a failure in building SDL, or a failure in building ES, but the cause could be many things.

No connectivity issue.
The first time I had no error in the log but the build fails as I said before.
The second time building reached the end. -
@ionic
that's what the log says. You had an issue resolving github name. You should try again. -
@ionic sorry - correction. The other poster had a connectivity issue. I need to see a log from you or I cannot advise further.

Sorry but I don't have anymore that log file. I uninstall RetroPie when you skipped my question for the connectivity issue ;-)

@ionic noone skipped anything. It was impossible to answer you as you provided no information.
