I have a couple of questions:

      1. If I get another 8Bitdo remote, how many remotes can the Bluetooth on the RPi3 support?

      2. I have a NES30 Pro, XBox 360 remote & a Retrode Is there an easy way to tell the system whitch remote is Player 1/2/3/4 etc? Can this be done via Emulation Station or does it have to be by command line?

      3. I tried using Mario Paint with the Retrode & the SNES Mouse and could not get it to work. Can you set which remote is player 1/2/3/4/etc by rom?

      4. Since Retrode is tring to intergrate with RetroPie (RetroPi?) Is there a way to use a Retrode to hot swap games and have them show up correctly in the RetroPie without fear that you might damage the save file on the cartridge or a Rom dump.

      Thanks for the help :)

        @Phoenix

        1. I don't know the upper limit, but you're far more likely to run out of possible players that the games will support before you reach a limit on Bluetooth controllers.

        2. Currently, you can use use the RetroArch gui as long as you enable 'save configuration on exit'. Also, @meleu has developed a great way to rearrange the controller order. His work can be found at:
          https://github.com/meleu/Retropie-input-selection

        3. I'm not sure that the SNES mouse is supported here at all. Rom-specific controller assignment is also not supported to my knowledge.

        4. The RetroPie & RetroPi projects are not related and I don't think that the Retrode is currently supported here. Like the original hardware, you always risk save file corruption when information being written to the cart is interrupted. That's why many games themselves warn you to not remove the cart during the save process.

        RetroPie v4.5 • RPi3 Model B • 5.1V 2.5A PSU • 16GB SanDisk microSD • 512GB External Drive

          Ah good to know :)

Ah wow, thanks for the tip, that is a brilliant script @meleu created! Love it if that could be integrated into official releases :)

After trying @meleu's script and plugging it into my Retrode I can say it is not supported. Is there any way to add support?

Oh I guess they are creating their own branch of the project. Yea you're right about removing the cartridge before it is saved. Maybe that is what they were referring to? Though from the wording that is not the impression I got.

I also noticed that you can only use the "start+select" on remote 1 to exit the game to return to emulation station. When I made the SNES mouse remote 1 I had to reboot the RPi 3 to be able to leave the game. Is there a chance that this shortcut can be added to remotes 2/3/4/+?

            Thanks :)

@Phoenix hotkeys are only coded to player one by design. No way to change that without delving into the upstream codebase.

Fascinating, do you know what was the reason behind this decision was?

@Phoenix perhaps they didn't want player two screwing over the first player when they lose. Who knows. All that stuff is maintained by retroarch not us

Ha! Yea that would suck. Though it would have been nice to have that as an option. Oh well. thanks :)

I think player 2 can invoke RGUI (usually select+X) and choose "Quit RetroArch".
