8bitdo bluetooth controller not connecting - stuck at 'searching...' screen

As above.
Never used a PS3 controller etc. on here, just tried to connect a new 8bitdo Snes style controller via Retropie and it just seems to lock at this screen. Have updated the controller firmware to 4.0, still no luck.Any ideas please people?

@lordbarker Did you check to see if the ps3 driver was installed though?

Apologies I've remedied the issue now by updating Retropie :)
Out of interest how do I set the Bluetooth Snes pad to player 2 and my wired Buffalo pad to player 1? Many thanks
