Manually adding game box art without scraper.

I have a raspberrypi 3b running version 4.2.18
I have updated everything through the binaries.

Okay, I cannot add Selphscraper no matter what I do. So I am resolved to try to add my box art manually. I have edited the meta data to find my game art @
/home/pi/RetroPie/configs/all/emulationstation/downloaded_images/ngp/Faselei!-image.jpeg
And the game list xml to find it @
<image>/home/pi/RetroPie/configs/all/emulationstation/downloaded_images/ngp/Faselei!-image.jpeg<image>

But when I reboot, nothing...
When I go to scrape...nothing...
Am I missing a step? I looked through other topics and nothing seemed to be my situation unless I missed it somewhere in another post. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

@hankola check the actual extension of your jpeg. A lot of the time the file extension is actually .jpg

Thank you! I did make sure and both are correct. Still not showing up though. It should be this simple though right? Show it where to look...show the game list where to look...it pops up right?
I guess the real question is, do I need to manually edit the game list file. A lot of my games for neogeo pocket are not even in there for some reason (perhaps they have not been scraped?)

Edit: after much trial and error. The correct file is located @ /home/pi/.emulationstation/downloaded_images/ngp/Faselei!-image.jpg

Not sure why my network places it here...but this is where it goes! Art work all updated; now begins the process of finding all the art and manually typing in junk!
