I am trying to hook up my xbox 360 wireless controllers to retropie/kodi but having a number of difficulties. First time I hooked it up, I managed to get one working, but the second one didn't work.
      Then neither worked.
I have plugged in to the usb my wireless sensor adaptor thingy and when I press the button on both the joypad and the receiver to link them both up, nothing seems to happen.

      Any advice?

I'm having the same problem, I managed to get a bit further as described here:
        https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/2069/xbox-360-controllers-xboxdrv

I've also tried the 'downgrade kernel' solution here, which didn't work for me but it may be of help to you:

I've also found this blog to be useful in configuring xbox controllers:

        HTH :)
