I'm trying to update ES from source. No specific reason other than I'm just updating things. I get as far as 83%, and it's stalled out. The line it's stuck on is:

      [ 83% ] Building CXX object es-app/CMakeFiles/emulationstation.dir/src/components/RatingComponent.cpp.o

I've restarted it already once after waiting about 30 minutes. I'm using the latest RetroPie-Setup script as well.

@buzz I know. :) I wasn't looking for support, just reporting it. I wasn't sure where to post it because there are multiple branches of ES on GitHub. Since I'm using RetroPie, and updating it through the setup scripts, I just though posting here would be the most appropriate.

@hansolo77 well that makes no sense. Ok I won't offer any. Could be a low memory issue, but I cannot offer advice without any information.

@hansolo77 update your setup script first.

I'm just going to update from the binary. But for future reference:

                Raspberry Pi 3
                8gb SD Card (5.0gb used, 2.0gb free, 73% used)
                EmulationStation v2.4.1RP
                RetroPie-Setup Script v4.2.18 (Last Commit 24 hours ago (940186d)

@herb_fargus - I did that already, seed the OP.

@hansolo77 Well - since you provided no information, we had no idea if you were really using the "latest" or not. The read me says not to say "latest" - it's meaningless. You just end up wasting our time.

Alright :( Next time I have something to report, whether I'm looking for help or just letting the devs know, I'll provide you guys with a little more info.

Are you running it from within ES, or after quitting ES?

It's from within, via the RetroPie menu.

EDIT Looks like it got past the stall by exiting ES and running the setup manually. Might be something to add to the setup script when updating ES to say something like "This must be ran outside of ES."
