I just did a fresh install of 3.8.1. Previously on 3.8 after I scraped my games once I selected a game that had artwork it would show that artwork fullscreen for a few secs before the game loaded. Was this feature taken away in 3.8.1?

You need to enable it - https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/runcommand
