      Pi Model: Zero v1.3
      RetroPie Version Used: 3.8.1
      Built From: SD Image
      USB Devices connected: none
      Controller used: Snes usb gamepad
      Error messages received:alt textalt text

So what happens is that the first two messages as posted above appear for every game but the games will launch when I got to the launch option. But whenever I try to use any of my gba roms and press launch, the screen turns black and it returns to the screen that has my gba roms listed. I tried all the gba emulators from the wiki page for retropie all do the same thing.

Has anyone had this problem and solved it?

@moptoptrev read the wiki page more clearly: https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Game-Boy-Advance namely the part about the bios

Thanks @herb_fargus it launches now. Except I still get the grey launch message. I went to check the message in the runcommand.log and it says No ROM header found. Is their something I can do to have the system ignore the fact that the roms are missing headers?

@moptoptrev I don't know about headers roms. Possible you have a janky controller that triggers button presses that opens the runcommand menu but you can disable it if you don't want it popping up: https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/runcommand
