RetroPie Hangs because Font Error 132 with GameGear and Game Boy Advanced

My RetroPie 4.2 hangs if I start the emulator GameGear or GameBoy Advanced with this error:
/home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/tmp/build/emulationstation/es-core/src/resources/Font.cpp:132: static UnicodeChar Font::readUnicodeChar(const string&, std::size_t&): Assertion 'false' failed
Aborted
<tag>FontError</tag>
Does somebody know how to fix this?Pi Model or other hardware: 3
Power Supply used: Micro USB
RetroPie Version Used: 4.2 (latest)
USB Devices connected: Exlene® Retro USB SNES Super Nintendo Game Controller Gamepad
